For that matter they are big enough to refund the whole hddvd thing they sold. people like me just trusted them to have things right. An apology would be nice

I know what you are all saying but I personally find HD-DVD far better in picture and audio than Blue-Ray.

5. No. HD-DVD died. Just upgrade to blu-ray over time. You can find most movies incredibly cheap now.

Glad the OP posted.....It is about time someone stepped up and asked to MS to support a format long ago buried....I know there is probably dozens of people who want to play HD DVDs..so much so that I recently sold 15 Movies and a new HD DVD player on Ebay
for 45 dollars...now THAT is what I call a popular format. It is so hot, it took me 6 weeks to sell it at that price!

Sorry I can't stay...I need to post a tread entitled "he MS...if you want to be a TRUE media machine, you need to have an add-on 8 track and cassette player"...

^ Shame Ms did not compensate those users who bought the HD-DVD for £139 and then spent thousands on HD content to see this technology be dumped at the drop of a hat having been hype promised this was the format of the future.

Pity they don't allow you to connect one of the players to the XBOX ONE PC saying as the internal drive must be udf2.5/2.6 compliant so therefore has a driver to read the format(via the hd-dvd addon drive) the software must already decode AACS to allow you
to view protected blu rays & the Usb driver won't be hard e.g the pid&vid is probably in there already and just blocked.
^ Shame Ms did not compensate those users who bought the HD-DVD for £139 and then spent thousands on HD content
Why would they? Do you think Sony refunded people who supported Betamax?
If you think that's how it went down, you don't know much about HD DVD.
Xbox One is not a PC.
udf is a disk format, not a driver format.
That's not how any of that works.

HD DVD and Blu-ray are not just containers for content. Both HD DVD and Blu-ray included interactive content executable/formatting support standards. Those standards were incompatible. It's not just a matter of reading the disc, it's also a matter of handling
the interactive content. As the HD DVD player software was written for PowerPC, MS would have to create it from scratch and then test it against a dead format.

The XBOX 360 HD DVD drive works fine with a PC and PC player software. ArcSoft no longer maintains the HD DVD software in TotalMedia Theater, but the code is still in the application and it still works. Go build a small HTPC out of an Intel NUC if you really
can't be bothered to rebuy your HD DVD collection on Blu-ray or UltraViolet or iTunes.

The best that can be hoped for is people going to the Xbox feedback page and voting for the hd-dvd app idea, to see if that kick starts any movement.

^^ you've nit picked the post apart icestormIII without some logic and without using some common sense to see what I mean.

You should know I meant it reads udf 2.5/2.6 already and that you still need a driver to read the UDF format & is what I said) a usb driver exists already for the addon that a PC /360 and xb1 could use as the xbox one is a PC at the end of the day x86
architecture and it's essentially running w8

You're misunderstanding the words in my post if you think I meant because the internal drive can read blu ray that it should be able to read hd-dvd that's not what I said.

certain USB devices/hardware in Microsoft's hardware are disabled/blocked/excluded via their pid & vid that's how they do it.

Decoding AACS is handled in system via mkb's - km / Vol IDs / kvu/ x
