Xbox One having issues reading discs - Sending in for repair question

Over the last 2 months, my day one edition Xbox One has issues reading game discs. What I usually have to do is, clear persistent storage on the drive, hold power button 10 seconds, unplug 2 minutes, start it back up, and it works. Gets very irritating.

If I were to send it in to microsoft for repairs, how long is the process? Since everything runs through my Xbox One, really don't want to be without the unit for a long period of time, if at all.

Sticky disc drive

Sounds like you have to send it in for repairs or buy a new one. You can probably fix it yourself with some online tutorials, but that's up to you. I had issues with my disc drive before I bought the new Xbox 360 S model and it wouldn't read discs. It would open and close the tray, but it wouldn't read discs. So I decided to buy a new one. However, this that you got may be fixable.

 

Disc issues

Sounds like the fog may have damaged the laser that reads the discs. If it's not reading then you're stuck with either sending it in for repair or purchasing a new one.

 

Given the other threads here regarding repair statuses, expect a few weeks. I live in the same city as the repair center, and was quoted as having to wait around 3-4 weeks.
