Xbox One has stopped running games and apps; home button freezes console

Hi,

I tried chatting with a volunteer but the connection dropped, and I thought I had fixed this issue but it's reoccurring. The Xbox One starts fine, it's connected to Live, has had the latest update. I am able to run apps (games don't work), but then cannot
get back to the home screen, pressing the home button freezes the console — to get back home I need to hold the power button on the console to do a full restart. When I reset the console to factory settings it works perfectly (including games) until I turn
it off, once it has been off the problems start occurring again. I have tried:

• Hard reset
• Restore to factory settings
• Install update offline
• Wiping the Blu-Ray app

and none of them worked. Any suggestions?

Cannot play downloaded/installed games when connected to Xbox Live

1). Power on the Xbox 360 with auto sign-in enabled

2). Navigate to the Games ** by now will see recommended games still circling loading icon

3). Navigate to My Games > Launch a game

4). Experience black screen

5). Press guide button and xbox guide popup

6). Select Xbox Home and experience a console freeze

Disc Games

1). Power on the Xbox 360 with auto sign-in enabled

2). Insert disc, then Play Disc

3). Experience black screen

4). Press guide button and xbox guide popup

5). Select Xbox Home and experience a console freeze

3). Select Avatar then Select Customize Avatar

Xbox One Controllers FREEZE (NOT Disconnect)

I have an inconsistent but not infrequent problem with my controllers freezing/console won't take input from controllers. The packed-in controller and a Titanfall controller. One with headset adapter, one without. Both have the latest controller firmware
update. An example: controller input doesn't navigate home screen, launch games or apps, invoke menus, whatever. Home button tap will sometimes go home as it should, but not further input recognized. Holding home button brings up turn console off or turn
controller off dialog box as it should, but can't select either option, or the close option.

Interestingly enough, this also happens with the Xbox One infrared media remote. Same deal. Console won't take input from the remote, or the only input it will take is home button taps or holds.

Doesn't seem to freeze during gameplay. Only during app or home UI interaction. For example, controller won't freeze playing Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, won't freeze in the game's pause screen or options screens, but open friends or chat during a gameplay
session, controller input will freeze in the app.

Sorry to hear about the trouble. To check, do you have your console set to Instant On or Power Save? If it's set to Instant On, try changing the settings to Power Save to see if there is any change in performance. Let us know

I always had it on instant on before this trouble started, but since the problems occurred I have tried it in both power save and instant on modes, and it hasn't made a difference :-\

 

This is a very good question as I am stumped on this as well. How much disk space do you have remaining on the console? Maybe crowded disk space could be causing the issue. Are you using a external HDD or Internal Memory?

 

Most of my stuff is on an external 2tb drive, which is about 30% full. The internal memory is practically empty.

To check, when you restored to factory settings, did you wipe your storage or did you choose the option to keep your games? It may be worth trying a full reset to see if there is any change in Xbox One performance.

 

I was doing resets and keeping games/apps, but when that didn't help I tried a full wipe. Didn't help either :-\

 

Anyone have any other suggestions? This is driving me crazy... I have to reset the console and go through set up every time I want to use it

 

i am having the same problem but i have never ben able to play eny ggames yet tryed all the same truble shooting still nuthing im redy to get rid of the one and go back to 360

Apologies for the delay. You mentioned most content is installed to an external drive, are you able to move some of that to your Xbox One console's internal drive? Once it's saved to your internal drive, remove your external storage device and try playing
without that.
