I own the console and I have every right to upgrade it. Installing a hard drive isn't modding it to give me an advantage over other owners it simply allows me to avoid using a slower. less efficient external drive.

It's no different than upgrading my gaming PC or laptop. The only reason they will ban someone for this is if they release a proprietary external drive and it becomes a financial issue. They did it with the 360 yet I upgraded my PS3 numerous times so if
there was a justifiable reason to ban consumers for doing so I'm sure Sony would have been doing it.

I would love to hear an explanation from MS on why they would ban someone for upgrading a HD.

Man oh man. You can get banned because you are modding your console, using live with a modded console is against the agreement you accepted when you signed up to live. Ignorance is not a defence. Next people will say changing the textures (lets say to transparent)
in a game file is ok.

The thing is is that the Xbox and any Xbox for that matter is a proprietary system and WILL be a void if you open it so be by guest and get banned
I own the console and I have every right to upgrade it.
You can do whatever you want to the console. You cannot connect a console that has been tampered with to Live. Microsoft's the sole arbiter as to what is permitted. Opening
the console and making unauthorized upgrades to the console are not permitted as per the Terms of Use.

You wanna buy an Xbox One and fill it with concrete, or put it in a different case and put in a HDD, feel free. You can no longer use it on Live.

Also External HDDs will not be slow. Do you even know about USB 3.0? Do you want to tell me the Read/Write speed over USB 3.0? I bet you don't even know what it is. You are just impatient. Just wait like the rest of us, and it will all come in time.

I know what USB 3.0 is. I've been building PC gaming rigs for 25 years.

USB 3.0 is not faster than an internal HD or even eSATA in the case of my PC's. The question is will the performance degradation be noticeable and even that may vary between individual users based on what's plugged in to their other USB ports ( headsets,
etc). You're making an assumption that it won't be slow without knowing the variables.

I simply find it easier to install a 1.5 TB HD into my One and limit the possible issues I may have with an external drive.

5Gbps for 3.0 versus 480Mbps for 2.0. From what I've read, real world testing puts 3.0 at 3.5 times faster than the 10x as it looks on paper.

Xbox One Hard Drive.

My main issue with external storage is it's ugly, I am a grown up and like to keep my entertainment center and a/v rack clean. I don't like extra wires making a mess

So stick the USB 3.0 2.5" drive behind the console? A small portable drive is exactly the same as what's in the Xbox One.

I get that there are options but I am crazy when it comes to keeping my wires organized and don't like the idea of just shoving a hard drive back there.

Most people will just get a desktop external drive which also requires power so theres another wire.

Not that big of a deal but internal is the way to go in my opinion.

So few are going to be buying HDDs to begin with.

14. What, seriously?! They'll ban your console for replacing the hard drive? I mean I knew it voided warranty but that is absolutely ridiculous!

Well, glad I only have a 360, more reasons I'm glad I am not too invested in MS's system (This is why I am not an xbox fan, it's not xbox itself that I have an issue with, it's MS and their ridiculous crap).
