    Xbox One X hard drive

    Hey all

silly question. Should I set up my Xbox One X and then add the hard drive that was connected

to the Xbox One S, or plug the hard drive in before I set up

Me? I am easy which ever. I would of preferred the same way the 360 did it but I wont grumble at the current method when it arrives. More space is more space Xbox One hard drive question :)

    Xbox One hard drive question

I'm still convinced the reason they went with internal storage, and that external options aren't here yet, is that they wanted the launch of the console to have mod free games.

As soon as people can access the game files easily again, then I expect we'll soon see the same situation as we have on the 360.

As things stand it would need to be external unless they release a newly designed Xbox One... or at least one where you can remove the HD with little effort. Personally I would like to have seen a much larger HD in it from the beginning. 1TB+ would suffice.
But we got 500GB which is plenty now... but in 5-6-or 7 years?

  10. I like the external option, the 360 hard drives were too expensive compared to a same size external hard drive.

Not for me it isn't. Because of the compulsory game installs, I've already had to uninstall games because of a lack of space. The ability to use external memory can't come soon enough.

  12. I think that a user replaceable drive would have been nice but that always leads to expensive proprietary drives. Although the capability isn't here yet, I think external USB 3.0 leaves the flexibility that we need without being over-charged, excessively
limited (although there will be one, I imagine it will be 3TB+) and we don't have the hassle of using a transfer kit when we need an upgrade.

Who says internal hard drives have to be proprietary? PlayStation consoles let me easily pop in a normal laptop drive. Just because Microsoft forces something on consumers doesn't make it acceptable.

  14. Maybe not acceptable Tendo, but it isn't too much of an inconvenience neither so long as support comes. I mean is there a real notable difference between going out and buying (lets say) a 3TB USB drive to a normal drive? Nope, not in my eyes anyway.

@tendaboy - but ps4 can only support a laptop HDD of 2tb but the x1 when we finally get external support will support 3tb and we can switch and swap so in theory it will have unlimited space.
