  1. Xbox One green screen startup animation for 10+ minutes followed by plain black screen

I got my X1 home after a trip to a friend's and I tried to boot up the console and all I got was a green load screen with the animations for about 13 minutes followed by a plain black screen with no error codes. I am aware that this issue is usually associated
with a system update gone wrong and that the official fix for that is the Offline System Update Diagnostic tool. I have NOT done a system update any time in the recent past, and furthermore the console was not even connected to the internet preceding this
    problem for some time.

My question then is whether or not I should attempt the Offline System Update Diagnostic Tool? If so, which file should I use? I have read the article on how to use the Tool and could not find an answer to this question. All files were either marked for
if you have just unboxed the console or had a problem with a system update. None address a problem coming out of the blue without any internet connection.

Thank you for your attention in this matter.

    :)

  2. Xbox Beta

    Beta update report:

Got the latest update. I could tell it was that by the following startup procedure to log on my ONE:

1.not responding to voice command "XBOX-ON"

    2. Turning on manually to find black screen.

    3. Rebooted by holding power button for 10 seconds, waiting an additional 10 seconds then powering unit back up.

    4. Was greeted by green XBOX startup, followed by the black screen, finally the familiar greeting and dashboard. Now its time for some Titanfall.

  3. Black screen

I turn on my Xbox one, see the green screen, then it goes to black. I waited 10 minutes or so, still black. Tried the hard shutdown, and the startup by holding the home and eject buttons. Still black. This happened after I transported my system to my relatives'
house. It did this black screen there, and it continues to do it now that I'm back home. Help!

    Hey there!

Xbox One green screen startup animation for 10+ minutes followed by plain black screen - this issue is know if the console is not updated correctly.

The best thing that I'd do with this is to do an How to use the Offline System Update Diagnostic Tool on Xbox One and I've chosen the Restore Factory Defaults File, my system went back, however I will need to download all my games again, but don't worry
all the saved games on your console will be able to sync again since you're using an Xbox One Console/

Xbox one original turns on no signal detected

    Hi Niteblew,

When you start the Xbox One console after rebooting, you expect to see the green Xbox startup animation screen. During the startup animation, your console runs a full system check on all hardware components, validating the firmware
and the operating system. This is very similar to the way a PC starts. The startup animation screen can take several minutes before transitioning to the next screen. If the system check fails to run the startup animation three times in a row, the console is
flagged by the system as “do not run.” This will block the startup animation from running, and in its place you'll see a black screen.

In order to determine your troubleshooting steps, after pressing the Xbox button you'll need to leave your console on this black screen for at least 10 minutes.
A black screen doesn’t always mean that there’s an error. The system checks described above run in the background and can take several minutes to complete. This may appear to be an error since you'll only see a black screen, but it can be completely normal
except for the absence of the green startup animation screen. If after 10 minutes the screen remains black, you should attempt an offline system update (OSU).

To use the Offline System Update, you'll need:

    • A Windows-based PC with an Internet connection and a USB port.
    • A USB flash drive with a minimum 6 GB of space formatted as NTFS.
Further instructions on how to complete an OSU and the required files to download can be found

    here
    .

If this also fails, then you would need to get a new console. I hope this helps!

    Black Screen

    Hi JasonX8

I'd be happy to explain why this issue occurs and provide a solution that will hopefully resolve this startup problem. When you start the Xbox One console, you expect to see the green Xbox startup animation screen. During the startup animation, your console
runs a full system check on all hardware components, validating the firmware and the operating system. This is very similar to the way a PC starts. The startup animation screen can take several minutes before transitioning to the next screen. If the system
check fails to run the startup animation three times in a row, the console is flagged by the system as “do not run.” This will block the startup animation from running, and in its place you'll see a black screen.

In order to determine your troubleshooting steps, after pressing the Xbox button you'll need to leave your console on this black screen for at least 10 minutes.

Note: A black screen doesn’t always mean that there’s an error. The system checks described above run in the background and can take several minutes to complete. This may appear to be an error since you'll only see a black screen, but it can
be completely normal except for the absence of the green startup animation screen.

If you have waited over 10 minutes and the screen does not transition, try booting up the console in the following way:

      1. If there's a disc in the Xbox One console, eject it.
      2. On the console, press and hold the Xbox button for 10 seconds to turn off the console. Unplug the power cord and wait 5 minutes.
      3. Re-connect the power cord. Press and hold the Xbox button and the Eject button until you hear a beep to turn on the console. You’ll hear one beep right away and a second beep 10 seconds later. The power light will flash on before
the second beep. DO NOT LET GO until the second beep occurs.

Note If you have an Xbox One S All-Digital Edition, you’ll need to press and hold the Xbox button and the Bind button instead, as your console does not have an Eject button.

In either case, this will boot your console in low resolution mode (640 × 480). To reset this setting, press the Xbox button to open the guide. Go to System > Settings > Display & sound > Video output,
and then select the resolution you want from the Display dropdown.

Please give this a try and then let us know if the console continues to experience this startup issue.
