Xbox one gold membership 14 day trial

I have recently bought a XBox one console and then activated my 14 day Xbox one gold membership trial which was contained within the box and have noticed since the June update I am able to download the two free games offered via the console but unable
to install the apps on the console. Can you tell me if I need to purchase Xbox one gold membership subscription to install these games, as the one that I have got is a trial version. It would be nice to be able to play these games during my trial, as
I know what I am going to get if I choose to buy a subscription.

XBOX Live 14-day Gold Trial?

I redeemed the XBOX Live Gold 14-day trial that came with my XBOX ONE. I was wondering if there's some sort of setting automatically enabled from redeeming the 14-day trial that will auto renew in 14 days for a month or year? I can't seem to find it. I would
like to use a 12-month gold membership code after the 14 days are up.

What if I'm on a 14-day prepaid code trial and I upgrade to Xbox Live Gold during the trial period to take advantage of a free game offer? Will I get the game?

If you upgrade to Xbox Live Gold during your non-renewing trial period, your Xbox Live Gold membership won't start until the end of your free trial. You won't be eligible to download a currently offered free game until your trial period ends and your paid
membership begins

You would indeed need to purchase
Gold Membership in order to play and own those games. Although you redeemed a trial, it is not classed as an actual Gold Membership, so you wont have full access to the benefits of going gold. I will say that it is more than worth the price, especially
now that gold users will get 2 free games per month which sums to more than triple the value of a month by month membership.
