  1. Xbox one gold family account, two consoles and digital downloads

Here is my question: We are adding a second xbox one to the house. I have a gold family account setup with me primary and my wife secondary. With the 360 if you wanted to have two consoles and play together you needed two copies of the same game. I have
no issue with needing two licenses. I want one set of licenses on my main xbox one and be able to have a second set on the other xbox one for her. The concept of having a "home" console that can transfer licenses on 3 times a year is hard for me to apply to
this situation. If I pay for digital content and its "home" console is in one room, but we want to have the same content for her in the other can a secondary member of an gold family account have their own "home" console, or does it fall unto "When you
log onto any other console with your Xbox Live account, you may use all games to which you have a user license." and all people on the family account will have simultaneous access to the same license?

The live usage rules are fuzzy about all of this. I guess there are not too many customers with more then one console.

    :)

Not family sharing, but you can get two consoles to work. The primary console linked to your gold account will allow any one on that console to play. Any other console that you log into can play the games too ( you can only log into one console at a time). Which means two players simultaneously can play the same game. I did find an article explaining how it works on the Xbox site but can't find it ATM.

Yeah, that's confirmation the system stays the same as now, you get two licenses with each digital copy, one for your home console, one for your Xbox Live profile.

Seems complicated, I know. Here's what you can do.

Set the console that your wife will be using as your Home console and make all purchases and initial downloads to it. That way she will be able to access all the content from that console without needing you to be signed in.

You can then also put your gamertag on the second console and redownload all your digital purchases for you to access. Because both consoles are technically owned by you there is no issue with this.

Anyone who wants to play content on the first (Home) console can do so without having you signed in. If they want to play on your second console they will need to have your gamertag signed in at the same time.

Hope that makes sense for you.

Also, as for Gold memberships. If you only have one it will be shared to your wife as part of your family on the Home console but cannot be shared out if she moves to another console.

What Onyx says is thorough, but there's one point that I want to clarify:

If you set your wife's console as the Home, all your games become downloadable and playable on that one without you being signed in. However, it does not mean you have to download the game yourself to that console; if you download a game on your own console,
it automatically becomes available on the Home console. (The way I read Onyx' post, it suggested you needed to purchase and download first on the Home console - that's not necessary.) Someone needs to start the download, but you don't even need to be signed
in. So you can download form whichever console you want - you can play all content you own, on whichever console you want, when you are signed into Xbox Live - and it will always be available on the Home console.

Another thing: if you use Smartglass to remotely initiate a download, it will download to the Home console. There is no way to change that. If the Home console is powered on (or off but in Instant On mode), the download will start immediately on the Home
    console.

This concept can be a little confusing to get to grips with, so definitely let us know if you have any further questions!

    Prices on the Store Suck!

Digital is excellent for my options but they should be cheaper than physical. With two XboxOnes in my household and Home Gold...and Family feature, I only need to buy one digital copy of the game. Download on both Xbox's and my kids can play the same game
I'm playing at the same time on both consoles...Offline or online..... so in essence i'm getting two games for the price of one. Can't do this with physical copies of the game.

    DRM

No Snook. Family share might return, but as of now it is not back. Digital sharing as it stands now is you can designate your console a Home Gold console, & any account that logs into that console can access your games & gold benefits. Any games you purchase
digitally on that console, you can access with that gold account on any Xbox One you log into with said account.
