Xbox One going into "energy saving" mode sometimes, even when I have "instant ...

The xbox one is made to always be on even when its off. It will auto download updates when in standby. If you go into the settings you can actually disable the instant on feature and it will FULLY shut down. This will make it so it has to boot longer
since it wont be in standby, but turning the instant on feature to energy saving mode it will completly turn it off. Note: when energy saving mode is on the "Xbox On" kinect function will not work for obvious reasons.

I have 2 Xbox ones. They are always in energy saving mode.

Just finished testing both and they are both going into instant on mode now, for some unknown reason.

We have a fetch box and the remote for fetch turns the Xbox ones on when they are in standby mode. This is because... they, both the Xbox one and fetch remote share the same infra red ch, which is why we need energy saving mode.....and why we discovered
this new behaviour in what is meant to be a fully shutdown Xbox.

For us now, energy saving mode behaviour = instant on mode setting

Which results in what appears to be Xbox ones randomly turning on when actually it's when someone uses the fetch remote.

Is that with instant on mode or energy saving mode?

The only time I ever get a strict NAT is when the console is in instant on mode.

Sometimes the NAT goes strict even though the IP address hasn't changed and the UPnP ports are being forwarded successfully. It's as though there is a glitch with instant on mode where it reports a strict NAT even though the ports are open.

So on my console there is definitely a fault with instant on mode.

Thanks for reaching out to us today! To answer your question, It is normal for the USB port to still work even on energy saving mode. Having your console either on energy saving mode or Instant-on won't affect the functionality of the USB ports on the Xbox.

If you have your Xbox One on instant on mode turn it to energy saving mode instead. Instant on causes alot of problems with networks.
