Xbox One gift cards: What can i buy

I'm thinking of buying an Xbox One gift card, but i want to know what i can buy first, in case it turns out i can only buy a small amount of things. Am i able to buy Avatar Items?

Why can't used Xbox Gift card to buy stuff from the avatar store

Everytime I tried to buy some new stuff for my avatar store on Xbox One with my Xbox Gift Card it said You have no valid payment option. Not everyone doesn't have a credit card to this is BS, this is not fare to people who can't buy avatar stuff with your Xbox Gift card. I hope MS can fixed this problem

 

You can only buy a small amount of things if you only buy a small amount of gift card! Funny you should ask, because somebody's just posted a link to Microsoft's "biggest sale ever", so wait a few days and then you'll have plenty of choices! And yes, you
can definitely buy avatar items - discounted or not.

 

You can buy pretty much anything you want with an Xbox One gift card, anything from Avatar items (why I don't know) all the way up to whole games/movies.

Basically if you can get it on the Xbox One store, you can use a gift card to pay for all or part of it.

 

You can pretty much buy anything except subscriptions with an Xbox gift card.

 

Whatcha mean you can't buy subscriptions? Sure you can! You mean subs to Xbox Gold, yes? Heck, down under (Australia) you can also buy a trial card for EA Access! Nothing's off limits when you're buying digitally.

 

The currency system can't be used to purchase gold or EA access. You can buy prepaid cards specifically for those though.
