    XBox One gaming headsets


    Hi there, my son has tried his third gaming headset and is yet to find one that works with his XBox One via 3.5mm jack/ controller. XBox recommended a factory reset, which helped for about a minute before we lost the headset logo from the home screen again.
    Some work intermittently, the first two were Turtle Beach ones and now we have a Stealth SX Elite unit that doesn't seem to be working either. After speaking to the manufacturer, they claim that XBox have recently changed the controller mapping. Looking on
    youtube, the headset issue seems to be quite common!

    XBox One gaming headsets

    I can't speak for the Turtle Beach or Stealth Headsets, but I'm using a Plantronics RIG400HX with a 3.5mm jack, and it works flawlessly.

    If the manufacturer says, that Microsoft changed the mapping of the controller contacts, try buying an OMTP to CTIA adapter cable, that simply swaps the microphone and ground contacts.

    I hate to tell you this but the Xbox One console does not transmit game sounds or music through the Xbox One Chat Headset. If you're looking for an Xbox One headset that provides both game and chat audio, you should be
    getting yourself an Xbox One Stereo Headset.

    Thanks for getting back to us. I would like to ask what kind of headsets are you using? Are they chat headset or stereo headset? Reason I ask is due to the fact that the Xbox One console does not transmit game sounds or music through the Xbox

    Another thing I would suggest is to try your Headset on another controller, if you can. If the headset works on the second controller, try
    updating the first controller again. If that fails, the controller will need to be replaced. Also,
    Try your Xbox One Stereo Headset with another device, such as a laptop, to see if the headset is working. If not, the headset will need to be replaced.

    You're using the stock headset that came with your Xbox One bundle?

    That mono headset only inputs and outputs game and party chat on the Xbox One. You wouldn't be able to hear TV sound with that.
