Xbox One Games with Gold *without* an Xbox One?

I may be crazy for asking this but I figured I would. I currently have an xbox 360 with an active Live account that I've had for several years. I am in the process of saving up for an Xbox One and am almost there. With rumors of Games with Gold hitting the
Xbox One's next month "June" I would like to know if, since I have an active Live account, will I be able to log onto the website and "purchase" the xbox one games for free like I currently can with my xbox 360, then in a month or two when I can actually purchase
my console, simply go to my purchase history and download the games. Will this be possible or will I need to have a current Xbox One unit linked to my account in order to take advantage of the Games with Gold?

Honestly i doubt you will be able to unless if you are able to download the current free games with gold on Xbox.com i never tried doing that tho

 

Well the only reason I ask is because sometimes when the new Games with Gold come out, I'm not home, so I am able to log onto the website via my phone and "purchase" the game. Then when I do get home, it downloads.

As long as you have a credit card on your account (MS currency won't work), you can make purchases through Xbox.com. You can purchase any games even if you don't have a console, and they wait in your queue/sit in your download/purchase history.

I don't see why it would be different for Xbox One games. Since the announcement is still new, best advice I can give when the program starts in June, give the purchase a try.

 

It's possible to purchase Xbox One games via the website, so when June comes around you should, like Sara says, just give it a go IF you see that the price says 'free.'

Like she also said, to use the website you need to have a credit card or PayPal account on file, but you say that you already use the website to download the 360 titles so presumably you're fine here.

The One works a little differently with regards to downloads than the 360. So if you are able to 'purchase' the games through GwG, be prepared that (at least as it's working right now), they will not automatically begin to download like on the 360, purchases
do not get added to any download queue.

Instead they'll be in a type of download history on the console and you just need to click through on them to download. This could always change before you actually get a console, but as of right now what you need to do is go to My Games & Apps, then Games
and scroll all the way to the right and there'll be a grey pane with some game tiles on it, and you can click A to add them to your queue.
