Xbox One Games with Gold not redeeming properly from Xbox 360

After watching the Major Nelson video describing how as a 360 owner I could "build my library" of Xbox One games before I actually had one, I was super excited to start adding games. I followed the instructions in the video and added "Metal Gear Solid V:
Zeroes". Clicked "Free Download", then it said "You've got this game". Ditto with Storm Warning.

Yesterday, I get an Xbox One, power it up, log in and discover that only Storm Warning shows. And wouldn't you know it, Metal Gear was only available through August 31. I spent one hour on chat with Microsoft support explaining the problem. Their solution?
to post it here.

There clearly is a glitch with the "feature" allowing 360 users to add One games. I simply want microsoft to hold to their offer, as I redeemed it during the period it was offered, using a feature touted by Major Nelson. In my case, that feature didn't work
at all!

Cannot purchase "free" 360 games on Xbox one or Xbox.com

It has always been like that not unless there will be an update regarding in redeeming Xbox 360 games with gold on the website. Xbox 360 marketplace has a different structure than on Xbox One Store. Xbox 360 games with gold on the website will need a payment
method. In Xbox 360 console, you won't need one. Currently, you can't redeem Xbox 360 games with gold using Xbox One console and still under progress about redeeming Xbox 360 games with gold on Xbox One console. Either get the games using an Xbox 360 console,
or get the games on the website with a payment method.

 

Wait so you get 2 free games every month even if you stop paying for Gold??

Yeah, unless something has changed recently, you get to keep your Xbox 360 gold games.

But the Xbox One gold games you need to have an active subscription.

Sorry to hear it. Can you head to My Games & Apps and scroll all the way to the right until you see Ready to Download? The game should be listed there. If you do not see that section then press the Back and Start button at the same time to make the section
show.

If the game is not listed there then perhaps you made the purchase on a different gamertag. You can sign in to commerce.microsoft.com with any gamertags that are on the console to see if it is on a list. If you see it at that website but cannot download
it to the console then you'll need to contact phone support to sort it out.

 

This does not show on the Xbox One under Games and Apps, and also, none of the Games with Gold show under commerce.microsoft.com. The game was not purchased. It was a free Games with Gold. Apparently Microsoft doesn't train their support staff on this as
the chat rep. was also confused by GWG.

 

It was a GWG but still shows as a purchase. Please check the commerce site I provided.

 

I have checked commerce.microsoft.com and NONE of my GWG items are listed.

 

The should be listed there if the purchase was done on that account. Perhaps you should check other gamertags that are on your console.

 

onyx62is, what daftpunk749 is saying about the commerce page is also the case with my account too. While I have had no problem with GWG so far, none of them appear on the commerce page. None of the 360 GWG show up nor do the Xbox One GWG. I don't yet
have an Xbox One so I don't know if that will be a problem but even the 360 GWG games that I have successfully downloaded and played do not show up one the commerce site. None of them.

 

I see. They don't show up for me either although they should. However, if you went to the game on the marketplace it should still show as purchased where you can restart the download.

For example, this months GWG title for the Xbox One game The Deer God shows as purchased for me when I head to the page.

Same here. I can see it says already purchased if I look at the game pages in the marketplace. Weird that they don't show as purchases on commerce though. Especially since the web marketplace need a CC on file because it is considered a purchase even
when they are free. Very strange indeed!

 

This is precisely my problem though - I would expect it to show as purchased on marketplace/store. Storm Warning showed that way and I was able to download it. Metal Gear, however, did not show up as downloadable and instead shows "19.99" despite redeeming
it within 30 seconds of Storm Warning and despite it saying (on. My 360) that it had been redeemed "You've got this game" or whatever it says after redeeming.

 

Hey, daftpunk749! It looks like everyone here got you sorted out with troubleshooting for this.

One thing I want to clarify, it DOES say that you've already purchased MGSV on the website? I just wanted to make sure that is what you were saying. If you can provide a screenshot, that would be helpful! You will need to upload a screenshot to a picture
hosting site to be able to share it here on the forums.

Additionally, please make sure your console is set as your
Home console.

Once I have confirmation of these things, we'll be able to look into it further.

 

Well, honestly the previous posts don't cover the issue at all. Looking in the marketplace just shows the game is available for purchase rather than for download.

I guess this is a difficult problem to explain. The issue was that when I went to redeem on the Xbox 360, it appeared that everything worked. The button changed to "You've got this", etc. however, only the Storm Warning game showed up as "ready to download"
on my Xbox One when I got it.

I would guess that at this point given that it doesn't show in marketplace as "download" someone on the Microsoft side will have to "flip the switch" to provide me with a copy of the game I missed out on due to this issue.

 

I have almost the same problem here... I want to own Crysis 3 for free on GWG, and when it turns available to use it on XOne by retrocompatibity I can download it...
