Xbox One Games to Play with 5 Year Old

I own an Xbox One and am big into first person shooters - they are pretty much the only gametype I own. My son is getting to an age where he would like to start playing Xbox with me (previously he's been big on iPad). What are some games that he and I
could play on Xbox One together that are age appropriate and not too difficult for a 5 year old? Thanks!

Any Dads wanna team-up?

I play after 8pm pacific time almost every night, 40 year old dad with an almost 5 year old, a 2 year old and a one year old.

I have a 2 year old and a 5 months old,I bought my 2 year old that zoo game for xbox one , played it for 5 min and told me daddy I want to play car game (forza 5) a tear almost came out my eye and I said to my self that's my girl!! Gamer like her daddy

minecraft, lego anything, gta 5...i'm sure there are some nice indie games on arcade suitable for kids.

 

Minecraft for sure. My son is 7 and he and all of his friends love it. I do too.

My son really liked Max: Curse of the Brotherhood, though he may need your help from time to time for the tricky parts, but it's definitely age appropriate.

Peggle 2 is fun regardless of age, but definitely easy for a 5 year old. He wouldn't need your help at all.

Stick it to the Man is a fun little game. It's a little quirky, but it's decent enough.

Shamgar81: sure it's a great game for teaching youngsters about sharing, honesty, being financially savvy, and respecting authority. plus, who doesn't enjoy smacking a ho upside their head once in a while? honestly, it's probably a much better teaching device
than you'd see in things like dora the explorer or spongebob or whatever kids are watching these days...

 

I picked up monopoly for xbone, nice time killer.

 

GTA any version.... is NOT appropriate for a 5yo, no matter how you spin it.

 

Truth.

The time people actually have a case against video games is when you get people trying to justify putting 18+ material into the hands of children.

My son is 5 and loves Lego games. He also enjoys Minecraft, Skylanders and Disney Infinity.

 

Costume Quest 2 is one my little nephew enjoys playing with his brother, he's 7 years old. Nutjitsu is another one. As other posters have mentioned, you can't go wrong with Minecraft or any of the Lego games.

You might also check out some of the indie games ID@Xbox, like Never Alone, Boom Ball, Kickbeat, Castlestorm, etc. Lots of co-op games in there, and they're pretty cheap.

 

kinect sports rivals maybe. tetris . have a look at some of the indie games there are soem kid friendly xbox one games. ori and the blind forest looks child friendly.
