XBox One Games Store - needs improvements

I love my xbox one games, and want to know why the store is so bad for Xbox One?

So many little things could be improved - many games have no images, the descriptions are pretty short and mainly tell the storyline with little to no info about what the gameplay is like, there is no genre, there is no genre listed for each, I can't search
by genre - in fact, the whole "search" system is terrible, with only the options to browse all games which takes forever, or search by the pre-made categories.

Yes I can search online for thse things, but to me this console should be entirely the 1 stop shop, where I can see all the info I want with ease. I really hope this gets improved.

4 Xbox One Store Improvements That We Need Now

There are 4 things about the Xbox One store that need to be fixed / added:

1. When viewing a game I should be able to highlight the icons under "Friends that play this game" and have the gamertags for those people appear. I don't have every friend's gamertag icon memorized and I'm sure other people don't either. The icons alone
are useless to most.

2. I should be able to add games to a wishlist to purchase at a later time. When I browse through the store I like to look at games that interest me. I want to save these to a wishlist that I can then review when I'm done browsing so that I may select 1
or 2 for purchase. Further, I would like to be able to view my friend's wishlists and perhaps buy games for them as presents, I.e. for their birthdays.

3. When initially viewing a game in the store I am unable to scroll down past the trailer (if there is one). After watching the trailer, letting the video stop on its own, then pressing "back" I am then able to scroll all the way down to reviews for that
game. This doesn't happen all the time; it happens about 50% of the time. It needs to be fixed.

4. And on a side note, why do I have to hit "back" to make the trailer go away after it finishes on its own? It should automatically close the video.

This are just 4 thoughts that immediately jumped out at me while perusing the store on my Xbox One. Here's hoping Microsoft makes these improvements / fixes soon.

There is a feedback feature built in to the Xbox Home button. If you want MS to see this you need to relay it to them that way as they do not read this forum.

 

Xbox bing "name game" brings you to a search tally. The store may seem incomplete as the game count is still small. You should have seen it on launch. Takes awhile to fill the shelves of a library so give it time.

 

Yeah the search function is ok, but only if you know what you're looking for - the problem is when you don't. I know the library is relatively small, but surely it's still big enough to categorize by game genre?

Will send some feedback in through the dash, not confident they will pick up on this anytime soon though

 

I aggree with the genre search. But if your browsing a game and find one interesting, you can always go to twitch to find a broadcast or video of the game that,IMO, usually provides the gameplay info Im looking for...

 

Yes ok I agree there are some other ways to do this, it "ways around the problem". Guess I am just a little annoyed at having to find ways around each problem with XBox One, because MS have made such terrible interfaces.

The Media Player is the same - I can't even skip folder titles by letter, I just have to skip page 1 by 1 until I reach what I'm after - these problems I do not understand or see any genuine reason why MS have made such a bad interface to work with.

 

I still can't believe how sluggish this UI can get from time to time. I wish they would stop tying everything to the online network, I notice a big difference when it's offline just as the Xbox 360's interface. Getting the store sometimes can take either
3 seconds or like yesterday, 25-30 just to open up...

 

Exactly! Don't get me wrong, I do love some of the XBO games, and the use of apps like Netflix, but there are just so many glaring holes in this OS and SW I cannot believe are present in a next-gen console in 2015?

Slow Interface

No voice support in many apps - Netflix for example

Bad implementation of B button (is is a back button, or a switch app button, not its both at different times)

No categorising of store items (no game genres, no app types, just a massive bag of titles to browse through)

No ability to skip through items by alphabet when browsing (i.e. music folder)

No support to continue playing music when changing apps

The Media Player in general - you can't even exit what you are listening to browse for your next titles, without the music stopping. It is then not possible to return straight back to waht you were playing (you have to search again and load it up again).

The list just goes on and on, yet what I am generally reading in the forums here is that everyone is so happy with the video game side of things that most of these problems just get excused away on Microsofts behalf - especially the whole "It's a different
operating system to 360 so won't act like a 360. You just have to get used to it". WHAT!?

 

Netflix has voice support.

 

UI's change all the time. If u can't learn it that sucks, but no ones fault. I've never had your lag probs, my interface goes instant. I like the idea of search by genre, but if u r not savvy enuff to navigate this simple UI then u deserve what u get IMO...

In relation to the xbox try number 3.

Im happy yours is fine i really am, doesnt change mine in the slightest tho. You dont have to defend the XO every time someone has a problem with it. Believe it or not some XO's dont work perfectly.
