Xbox One Gamerpic not updating

Hey folks, I've recently returned to Xbox gaming. I've been able to retrieve my account without issues, but my gamerpic isn't updating. This problem seems to be specifically affecting gamerpics I try to take using my avatar, it says 'updated' but nothing
changes.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for reaching out! I'm sorry to hear about the issue you may be experiencing with the gamerpic not updating.

It might take a little while for your custom picture to appear while we verify it’s OK. (If it’s not, it’ll be reverted to the last gamerpic or avatar you were using.)

Try changing it via the Xbox app or the website.

Hey there, I can see your current gamerpic as your avatar on a green background now?

Also, I believe you can try changing it through the website, if you click on profile at the top right of the page and select 'customize avatar' you'll be able to take a new gamerpic using your avatar and hopefully it will update on the console. I'm not 100%
sure though, so feedback would be welcomed.

I appreciate your response. I'm totally familiar with using gamerpics, but my specific problem is that any changes I make to my avatar are not showing up on my gamerpic. Both the xbox one and xbox.com allow me to make the changes, create a new gamerpic,
but it's just not updating afterwards. It keeps my old appearance as if no change was made.

There has been a similar issue regarding the gamerpic not updating before, though it was somehow related to the avatar items themselves.

Have you tried to use a preloaded avatar, then save the gamerpic?

Also, the gamerpic will always display the gamerpic selected on the console, so any changes that you make with your avatar (as the gamerpic) will only be reflected on either the xbox forums.

If the issue appears to be only from the console:

Have you tried to remove and redownload your profile, then clear your system's cache*?

*for 360, restart console for One

also I spent MONEY on my avatar items and they should be able to be seen in my gamerpic

I'm not sure about the avatar, but the gamerpic is an Xbox One gamerpic. The website has been updated to show Xbox One gamerpics in some areas instead of 360 gamerpics. If you don't have a One, you're given a default gamerpic. Gamercards have not been updated
to show Xbox One information which is why it's still a 360 gamerpic.

Hey mate,

All of the gamerpics have updated with the xbox one. When I updated to xbox one, my gamerpic went into a tiny picture as the quality of the 360 gamerpic is a lot less then the xbox one. Unfortunatley, you'll have to update to one of the new xbox one gamerpics
if you want to maintain the quality. Also, once you switch to a new gamerpic, you can't go back

That's the point, I don't want the "gamerpics from the One"...!

I paid for every thing that came with the Limited Edition Halo 4 Xbox-360. The Halo 4 'gamerpic' and Halo 4 avatars transferred at least ones to my new Xbox-One. But, you are saying that I have lost my Halo 4 'gamerpic' on my Xbox-One and I'm going to unilaterally
lose that very same Halo 4 'gamerpic' I am currently using in this forum...?

Where were you trying to update your Gamerpic? Xbox One, Xbox 360 or Xbox.com?

FYI, this issue is now resolved for me. The problem occurred for me soon after I created a new XBox profile for my fiance. I noticed that her GamerPic was always empty when we were using SmartGlass and while she was in XBox Fitness. I went into her XBox
profile and updated her GamerPic and this fixed the problem (the CDN error went away and we could both see her GamerPic in SmartGlass and XBox Fitness).

Based on this information, I'm assuming that it's possible to get an XBox account into a state where it hasn't fully synchronized with XBox.com. I doubt the problem relates specifically to the GamerPic, but rather, updating the GamerPic forces some kind
of account synchronization that indirectly fixes the problem.

Rather than purging friends one by one, maybe see if any of them are missing GamerPics or profile content in SmartGlass, and ask that they change something in their profile to force an update.
