Xbox One Game Updates

I'm in a bit of a predicament when it comes to using my xbox one. My internet is kind of garbage and cannot handle the update sizes for games. Since I've gotten my xbox one I have had to update COD: Ghosts twice, the first update was around 1.3 to 1.4 gb's
(which considering the sizes of updates on the xbox 360 version seems kind of a ridiculous increase in size for slightly better graphics) and the last one was over 1.5 gb's. But I do have a family member who has a better connection. Twice I have had to haul
my xbox one and a small hd tv to their house (they only have one hd tv and I would feel like a jerk for taking it over for the hours it can take to update) but it's become a bit of a burden and time suck. Is there any way I can download updates from a computer
for games and install the updates via USB so I don't have to keep hauling around over 20 pounds of tech around and instead bring one of my various flash drives, I have plenty that can handle the size of the updates no problem, but is there anywhere where I
can download the updates without hauling my xbox one around? (Which would would be great considering I would like to keep this thing as shiny and neat as possible considering I spent $500 on it)

I've never read that the Xbox One is supposed to perform game updates in standby ?

As far as I'm aware the auto update feature is for console updates.

I think you have a good idea. I only see downloads getting larger and larger. Already we have had a 13Gig patch for Dead Rising 3.

Good idea, although usb support needs to come first! If you set your console to Instant On, theres an option you can select so it will download updates in the background, im sure this includes game updates aswell as dashboard updates. This would at least
let you download them overnight or when your away from your xbox and its not in use.

This is a good idea but like SEGGIE said you should use instant on and enable automatic updates.

At least then updates should download overnight while your console is off.

 

Although I would update overnight if I could, sadly I can't. I have a very limited bandwidth because of my location and I don't pay for it (I currently live with my parents until I move on campus within the next year). My ISP is sucks but its our only option.
If I had unlimited bandwidth that wouldn't be trotted I would but it would basically make my internet useless for the rest of the month (which is bad because I need to upload my assignments which need a little extra bandwidth because I'm uploading 3D files,
I'm trying to become a game designer) so it seems my only options right now is getting very little out of my $500 purchase (the xbox one) until I'm on campus and using my ISP for uploading my assignments. Its kind of a bummer but hopefully the internet on
campus will be able to handle it while I'm doing my work so I can use my Xbox One to its fullest potential during my down time. Also I wish I checked BusGod's reply before I went to gamestop today... I thought almost 2 gig updates were bad... I bought Dead
Rising 3 and saw a 13GB update and just walked away.... That seems a bit ridiculous considering the entire game from the disc is 35gb. What is up with these updates that they're this big compared to the previous consoles updates? GTA V is a huge game and I
could update it fine on my 360.. I'm starting to feel like I'm gonna have to spend the next 6 months to a year playing offline and signing in every now and again to get my achievements to update :/ I'm gonna stick to microsoft consoles though because I doubt
the PS4 updates aren't much better. (That and I'm not sure if the PS4 still does the PS3 update thing where you have to download every previous update instead of just the newest one)
