Xbox one game update issues (Corrupt)

Hello, This is on behalf of a friend.

He recently bought an xbox one and went about updating etc and went fine and as far as im aware game installed fine but when it comes to the game update it stops and then corrupts.

He thought it was the console so replaced for another unit and does the same again, I personally would of pointed out to his internet but its fine for pc downloading,wiiu and his xbox 360, He says the error code is something like 0x800070570 but upon searching
online that points to a windows 7/8 issue.

Hoping someone could help so he can start enjoying his xbox.

game updates not downloading properly

Just to be clear, you can't update your games while simultaneously not being able to access anything else while the games aren't updating?

If that's the case, a couple issues may contribute to the problem. First Microsoft's server may be overcrowded, virtually halting the download itself. Though this seems like a continuous issue you've been having so it may seem unlikely. The second issue could be space. 83 games are a lot of space to take up on an Xbox One. Another possible culprit could be corrupted memory. All with a chance of contributing to your failed updates.

I suggest contacting support if this problem persists in the future. On a side note, normally when my games are updating, I leave my Xbox inactive to complete the updates. Even though they can update in the background, I sometimes fear of overloading my Xbox console itself. Just a tip from me to you.

 

Edit: he has tried it with 2 games, Shadow of mordor and destiny.

Tell your friend we're sorry to hear about the games issues! When you say the games 'corrupt', what exactly occurs? Getting that exact error code would be the best way we can help, however, I'll give some general troubleshooting steps as well. First have
him power cycle and clear persistent storage. Here are the steps to do both of those!

To clear persistent storage, follow these steps:

• Press the menu button on your Xbox One controller and select 'Settings'.
  
• In the Settings menu, select Disc & Blu-ray settings.
• From here, select Persistent storage and clear it.

To do a full power cycle, follow these steps:

• Press and hold the power button on the Xbox One console for 10 seconds.
  
• Once the unit is powered off, unplug the power cable from the Xbox One and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  
• Plug the power back into the unit and power the console on.

If both of those steps do not help him, have him try Uninstalling and Reinstalling the games that are affected.

Share those troubleshooting steps with your buddy and let us know if that helps him! Try to get the exact error code he is experiencing as well!

 

Hello Mister Beep, The code is 0x80070079 and i believe he installs the game (Via Disc) then it asks for a patch in order to play and during the install of that patch it corrupts and/or wont load any game.

As stated above he returned 1 xbox one for a different unit as thought that was the faulty but still gets the same issue.

 

Alright, thanks for the info! Have him install the game while his Xbox One console is disconnected from the internet completely since it's a disc based game. He will want to uninstall the game completely before they do that so he can start fresh. When the
game fully installs, connect to Xbox Live and then download the update. Be sure to have them follow all of the steps I posted above as well, as that will clear out system cache and persistent storage. To be sure they are disconnected, here are some steps to
do so:

• Press the Menu on the Xbox One controller and select Settings.
• In the Settings menu, select Network.
• Under Network, select Disconnect Wireless.
• If they are wired, simply unplug the Ethernet cable from the back of the Xbox One console.

Hello Mister beep, Whilst he got Shadow of Mordor to update (took days) he is struggling to get any other game to update, the game installs fine its when it requires a update.

He also told me today that titanfall got to 85% then once he installed the new xbx dashboard update (which went fine) titanfall then dropped to 10%.

I dont think clearing cache or anything will work as its the second xbox one he is trying it on as returned the first, Thinks hes just going to return it and get a different console as hes finding it rather frustrating.

 

I'm having the same issue on one of my two xbox ones. I will try your steps Mister Beep and let you know if this works.
