    Xbox one game streaming lag

    Xbox one game streaming lag

When I test the game streaming function on the Xbox App I get a 'very high' result, but when I start streaming and play the Xbox games on my laptop I get a lot of lag. Sometimes the App even tells me I have 'network quality problems' even when I set the
quality on 'low'. Tried to play COD AW multiplayer and that's just not possible because it feels like I'm always 1 second behind. Yesterday I had some fun playing 'Defence Grid' streaming to my laptop but it stutters both in video and audio.

Is the lag normal or is there anything I can do to make it stream smooth ?

Been to the trouble shooting page and nothing on there that's helpful to me. I used to have a wireless network and the streaming then was even worse, it was unplayable. Then I bought an ASUS AC router but that didn't help. Then I was told that I needed a
wired connection what made me feel really disappointed.

    Quote from the
    promotion page
    (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/windows-10) :

Stream your Xbox One games to any Windows 10 PC in your home

Play Xbox One games in more places at home on a Windows 10 desktop, laptop or tablet. With an Xbox controller and a laptop your Xbox game collection follows you from screen to screen, so you can play Halo in your bedroom,
kitchen, or as far as your Wi-Fi will go.*

*Stream to one device at a time with supported games.

"As far as my wifi goes" ?

Last week I went to a lot of trouble to make a decent wired connection in my house and everything runs great except for the Xbox One game Streaming.

    It lags

    :)

testing the streaming = very high

Start streaming = "network quality problems" . Even on low quality settings

Xbox (chat) support sends me to Windows support, Windows support sends me back to Xbox support, then Xbox support sends me back to Windows support again, then windows support gives me a support phone number, when I call the number it's Windows support telling
me I have to contact Xbox support.

    You support people are crazy

I got "network quality problems" too even with 100Mbit wired connection. When I start streaming only the sound and gamepad inputs are transmitted, but no picture in sight. The bandwidthmeter shows a maximum bandwidth of 0.17Mbits. Tested this with WiFi too
    and got the same results.

My Windows 10 PC is an old Lenovo X200s pc with Intel Core 2 Duo 1.86GHz (L9300) and 4GB of RAM.

Dont know what to do ..

    How ?

I have no lag or any other stuttering problems when playing online on the console. It's only when using the game stream function to the Xbox App on my laptop.

How does that use more internet ?

How fast does my internet have to be to make the streaming run smooth ?

Firstly your stream to your Xbox in the same home will depend on your Local Area Network, not internet connection. Now your problem could be your router/switch, some just don't have a good enough processor to support Xbox streams, or possibly it isn't gigabit.
Some companies will advertise their products provide gigabit speeds, but most can't due to the processor. You can always try pinging your Xbox while streaming to test for packet loss. Each ping on a wired connection should be less than or REALLY close to 1ms.
My path from my desktop to Xbox goes through 2 D-Link DGS-1008G and I get less than 1ms even while streaming.

    Xbox one game streaming lag

Hello shockelite, thank you for your reply.

I'm using an ASUS RT-AC87U router > CAT6A cable to NETGEAR gigabit Switch > Xbox One. Laptop is also connected by CAT6A cable to router. My laptop has a Killer E2200 Game Networking LAN (gigabit) card. I think that should be good enough to support Xbox
    streams.

I did a ping test to my Xbox IP while streaming and had 0% loss. Minimum, maximum and Average are at 0ms

So I don't understand where the lag is coming from. My drivers are all updated

You honestly should have no problems with that equipment. What Xbox app are you using, have you tried the beta version? Perhaps they fixed your particular issue in it.

    www.microsoft.com/.../9nblggh1j27h

If that doesn't work try plugging all your devices into the switch.

    So it would be like

    Router > Switch > (PC/Laptop & Xbox & ect..)

After that I'm not sure, I'm currently in the Xbox preview program, so that could be another reason why it's working for me and not you. Sorry for throwing so many ideas out there, but hopefully one is a winner.

    Hi,

I just want to report that I fixed my issues with streaming. My old Lenovo X200s is capable of streaming from Xbox One. I installed the latest Windoes 7 driver and it works now. No bigger lags or sth.

    Thx
