  1. Xbox One Game Sharing

lol i brought this up well before launch even, my thread was deleted because it explained this way, i've not done it because I dont feel giving my friend all these games I payed for free is fair. Although I don't want this feature taken away because I will
be using it when my son gets an Xbox one and don't think parents should be punished for a few bad apples exploiting it. I'm sure this thread will be deleted and locked soon enough to hide this exploit as much as possible.

It tells me it's a loophole as it should anyone else.

"Random guy on internet" ( that being you ) says it's intended. Microsoft won't confirm it, developers and publishers say one purchase doesn't equal simultaneous play on two consoles.

It would be huge for marketing and advertising yet it's not spelled out in writing anywhere. "BUY ONE, GET ONE FREE" every other company advertises it.

So rather than see it as an unintended consequence of a feature that MS did use as a selling point and would meet with gamer rage if removed we'll all just make believe it's intended.

It may sound like a loophole but I know a few lawyers that could take issue with the wording in the TOS agreement were people to start getting band for it. It's not like MS doesn't have lawyers writing up these terms so you can be sure they're aware of the
practice. If you follow the rules "explicitly" stated in the TOS then you should be good. Nowhere in it (to my knowledge), does it state you cannot use multiple xbox ones to exploit sharing games. They reserve the right to change it anytime but till then it's
on them. Game publishers may say it's not allowed but XBL has no connection or obligation as far as the TOS for live service. They may just be opposed to game sharing (which I completely agree with btw). I look at it like music or movies or sports broadcasts.
The rules are that u cannot screen or rebroadcast for a public audience but c'mon...that means I can only watch the movie or game I purchased for a select few people...have u heard of this being enforced? I rant I guess, have fun...

  5. Quote from ToHellnbak

"hairy.. that "page" is from JUNE.... MS has even re-worded their "HOME CONSOLE" usage on their TOS about 3 weeks ago.. and I state: ~ Directed towards Rand

......"If you have multiple Xbox One consoles, or you regularly use consoles belonging to friends or family, you most likely want to designate the most frequently used console as the home Xbox."

This basically is telling us that you can designate ANY XBOX as your HOME... even if it is not YOURS..... now what does that mean in the over scheme of things... as they also say.... ANY ONE gets YOUR games on YOUR console....

    support.xbox.com/.../my-home-xbox

Im really tired of beating this horse... it works.. that is how it is supposed to be.. MS knows it .. just DROP IT!"

No i will not "Drop it!" as you so elegantly put it. Do you somehow fear that bringing this issue to light will affect some cost sharing scheme you have going on with someone else. I gave an honest opinion, and gave factual links to the core site to back
    it up.

You are always so in the right, even though Publishers, do not give permission to use one digital copy on 2 separate consoles, you insist on stating it is a Microsoft planned thing

If it was fully Planned, Microsoft would be shouting this from the rooftops, in a bid to get more sales, you know it, i know it and everyone else knows it.

I have stated truth in my post and posted links from the Microsoft Xbox.com website. Whether that page is from June or not, the page is still available to read, and is still valid. If it was not valid, there would be an extra link attached to the page, for
    an update of those terms.

Until you prove to me with an official statement by Microsoft that you can legally share a digital game simultaneously between 2 people without breaking the EULA, and the Xbox TOS.

    Microsoft Services Agreement

One of the core, "You may not do"

    "

    • Attempt to disassemble, decompile, create derivative works of, reverse engineer, modify,
      further sublicense,
distribute, or use for other purposes the Services,
any game, application, or other content available or accessible through the Services, or any hardware associated with the Services or with an Authorized Device. If you do,
we may cancel your account and your ability to access the Services, and pursue other legal remedies. We may take any legal action we deem appropriate against users who violate our systems or network security, this Agreement
or any additional terms incorporated or referenced in it. Such users may also incur criminal or civil liability.

  6. U need an official statement from MS...lol let it go man....let the lawyers deal with it now cuz it's obviously out of our hands. Legalize is words and terms. If it doesn't state u cannot then u will be ok. If not lawyers would have a field day with this.
Discount all u want but in as far as the law goes u r wrong...

  8. Xbox One Game Sharing

It was the i am right "DROP IT!" (considered shouting) attitude.

Stud, i have provided you with the TOS that you have to agree to when accessing Xbox Live. And it states You are not allowed to sub-license or distribute any game. If sharing one game between 2 people is not sub-license'ing, then i don't know what it.

I gave an honest opinion as to why they should not Digital Game share, and everyone jumps up and down saying that MS planned it. Well prove it. I have proved otherwise. Just because they let it go on for now, doesn't mean they will not stop it. As also under
the TOS, they change the Fine print anytime they want.

The proof is in the proverbial pudding. This capability has manifested on the Xbox One, 360, PS4 and PS3. That isn't happening by accident.

    @Skinner

No one has said it's happening by accident. It's a by-product of another feature, if you remove the unintended by-product, you remove the feature.

The two people in this thread that are trying to convince people this is an intended feature have offered nothing in the way of proof. The evidence supports just the opposite. It's going to become a much bigger issue as we move closer to all digital consoles.
At some point the lost revenue will outweigh the backlash when the "home console/take your games with you" features are removed.

It should be common sense that publishers and developers aren't going to give away a game for every game purchased. If they were doing that it would be a huge selling point and yet there is no mention of it anywhere. The fact that several of you don't find
    that strange boggles my mind.

Thanks for all the information guys!

I'll probably wait and do this with a family member when they get the console. Even if they live somewhere else I don't see there being any bans imposed, maybe just prevented somehow in future. Was thinking initially, why aren't all XBL players doings
some kind of share system publically? Now I get it.

  12. Subliscence & distribute can be kind of ambiguous terms when it comes to individual usage. It may be a FACT that this practice of sharing is against TOS or it may not. Individuals have rights and Tbh I can't see any enforcement being pursued other than
restricting or terminating this "loophole". It says basically the same thing at the end of any movie or sporting event you have ever watched. How many lawsuits would have to be mitigated and at what loss to MS if they started banning people for it? And would
it be acceptable losses as far as their company profit is concerned. How could it be proven that I was not physically at a friends signed in on their console while a family member or friend was signed in at mine or vice versa. Unless it's true that they are
watching you thru kinect (a separate issue tho). Again the same as the liscencing laws for a movie or sporting event. I believe the rules might be intended for extreme violators such as in piracy and the like. Having said this, I completely disagree with digital,
    not physical tho, sharing.

    Xbox One Game Sharing

    @Stud

The majority of this discussion has been about playing a single purchase at the same time rather than sharing access to a library. Proving that a single license was being played by two different people at the same time would be easy to do if they choose
to, especially when most of us are online all the time anyway.

Sharing access to a digital game library isn't much different than loaning a friend your disc so I don't see them being to concerned about it. Two people playing Titanfall at the same time from different consoles just cost them a sale and that's where their
concern is going to be. As more people go digital and figure out sharing a "home console" is more economical it could take a huge chunk out of sales.

They are the same people that believed the "Buy 1. Get 9 FREE!" was coming to pass; if it ever did..."I" had a "share club" ready to go! Lol.

I believe the intended use this "share" feature" was intended for, was for households with 2 X Box One consoles, not two friends to save money. I also "(Like some others.) believe that is why they don't broadcast this neat feature...when it becomes widespread
and cutting HEAVILY into profits; it's gone.

    Peace, J.R.

  15. Always thought of it as a loop hole of allowing people to access their games no matter where they are. I have always hoped that not too many people catch on because I would hate to see it go away. I use the feature often to play couch co-op/competitive on
games without split-screen, saves me a lot of money. I still have two copies of Halo 4, Defiance and Unreal Tournament 3 learning about the way the digital games work was a sigh of relief for my wallet. (Ok Halo 4 does have 4 player split-screen, but sometimes
I get a big ol group together).
