XBox One Game Resume after shutdown no longer working

I have an Xbox One, playing Red Dead Revolver 2.

In the past, when I was in the game, I would long press the XBox button on the controller, then select Shut Down Console from the menu.

Then, when I restarted the console (note the console is set to 'Instant On' power managment), I would select the RDR2 logo from the Home screen, and the game would load from where I had left.

Now, whenever I select the RDR2 logo from the home screen, it goes to the in game menu, and I have to load the last saved game.

Does anyone have an idea how I can get the resume behavior to work as it did previously? Note I did the console "soft reset" (keeps the games and files) and that didn't improve anything.

Thanks, but Instant-On is configured in power management.

I did some research about the 'alternate MAC address' since that made no sense to me. It appears that XBox support would recommend that only because it forces a full shut down and restart.

The quick resume is still not working. I might try the factory reset this weekend (not the soft reset) and see if that changes anything.

Sorry to hear that you're dealing with this issue trying to get your games to resume where you left off. However, We suggest you try some basic troubleshooting steps which will help fix this issue. When you get a chance go to Settings>Network>Network Settings> Advanced Settings> Alternate MAC address and clear that alternate MAC. The console will say it needs to restart to apply the change, so let it do that and see if that helps resolve the issue.

If the issue persists, then you might have to do a factory reset but I would suggest doing the soft one denoted "reset and keep games & apps" before you try the full factory reset. This way, you can try to reboot the software without having to reinstall everything.

Give those steps a shot and let us know how that helped.

Hi,

just to be sure, is your console set to Energy safe mode or to Instant On?
Since as far as I know, the Resume game that instantly brings you where you left off only works when the Xbox One console is set to Instant On.

I cleared the checkbox for 'Alternate MAC address' and that did not solve the issue.

Note that I have never configured an alternate MAC address, so I'm not sure what this step accomplished.

Had the same issue with the base requiring an unplug and the replug to register after shutdown. I think it may be a problem with mine being set to instant on and having game resume on also. Is yours set the same also?
