Xbox one game disc damage while in the console

Hi,

I've just had a problem with turning my xbox one on, so I checked the power lead, which had the light on.

Unplugged the cable for about 20 secs and tried turning my console back on... worked!

Tried to play my new Fifa 16 and an error message popped up asking if I owned a copy of this game.

Took the disc out to clean it and it's been damaged. It looks like heat damage to the edge of the disc in a few places.

I'm not sure how this has happened and wondered if anybody else has had a similar problem or any information.

It looks like I'm now going to have to contact EA games and pay for a replacement game disc

Hey Dan, I'm afraid that moving the console at all while it's in use can damage a disc. Depending on what game was damaged, you can try using this

official disc replacement plan.

Mister Cerb, his issue was that his console was moved while the disc was in use and it caused damage.

There is no refund for a disc that is damaged from the console. This is due to the fact that the only way that damage can be caused is when you move the console while the disc is spinning inside.

Hey there EzrealNova.

Be sure not to move your Xbox 360 while it's powered on and a disc is in it, this can cause damage to the console and disc such as what you describe.

Thank you for posting here on the Xbox forums. It is possible that the disc, while not having viewable damage, is still damaged enough to cause this issue. One thing you can try is installing the disc to your console. Take a look at this support article
