    Hi,

    Ive seen various reports and recall even prior to the Launch of the Series X, that Xbox would "Remain Region free" and that this also applied to the Xbox One series of consoles, in that, any game purchased in any country would be playable on any console, regardless of its origins..

    With that being said, i have found a game (EA UFC 4) with a "US ONLY" code for £10 less than id pay if its a EU Version, and it stays it is LOCKED to the US only..

    This then contradicts Xboxs "Region Free" agreement.

    I need to know, despite xbox claiming Region Free, do devs/publishers still have auth to region lock titles? (and if so Msoft should be stopping this if they claim the games and consoles are region free) And if i purchase this code, being based in the UK, will it work?

    XBOX 360 PAL TO NTSC COUNTRY

    The region locks technically aren't even NTSC/PAL locks because such a differential does not exist within the console. The games are just coded with a region lock. When a region locked game is loaded on a console from another region, it will display an
    error message. If a game is region free, it does not look for what region the console comes from and continues to run. The region lock outs for Xbox 360 games these days are down to the publishers, nothing more.

    Xbox One on the other hand has no regional lock outs at all for disc games. You can play any Xbox One game on any Xbox One console. There are certain region locks for downloads, but that has nothing to do with NTSC and PAL.

    Digital games are region locked to the country that it was bought in/the currency it was bought in but disc games on Xbox one are not region locked and all Xbox one disc games will work in any Xbox one.

    For example, if you're in the USA and you buy a French code for a game it will not let you redeem it and vice-versa.
