xbox one freezing, xbox taking ages to start up, long install times

As the subject says the system will freeze, it does it every time I turn off the set-top box which is "streaming" TV to the xbox one through its hdmi in, my set up is antenna to the set-top box, hdmi video and sound to xbox in, then hdmi video out to TV
and optical audio from xbox out to surround sound system, the TV audio is only 2.0 but when I play blu-rays/games straight from the xbox it does work in 5.1 surround, so basically what will happen is i will be watching TV fine on the xbox and then i will turn
off my set-top box and instead of the system saying lost signal check cable etc it will freeze also the audio doesn't stop it sounds like a cd skipping, after a little while the system just shuts itself off, it does this even i go xbox home then go into say
notifications and then turn off the set-top box the system will still freeze, normally after i turn the system back on after it freezing it works fine again.

other times I will shut down the system correctly, then the next day go to use it again and when i turn it on either by the touch button or by the controller it will go straight to the black xbox screen, and not show the green screen which also has audio,
when it does this it just stays on the black screen for ages until it eventually shuts itself off, then a second later i will turn it back on and it will seemingly work fine and give the green screen first and load

lastly slow install times different from when i first installed games on the system a month or so ago, all of the problems im having with the system have been going on for about two weeks or so definitely none of them occurred when i first bought the system

strange issue just days after the new dashboard update

My xbox also keeps freezing up and taking ages to do things

Xbox one keeps freezing and everything is taking "to long to start"

I have just downloaded a new update for my Xbox one and now everything is taking to long to start and the screen keeps freezing. I can't even sign in or open settings because it won't stop freezing or it's taking to long to start.

I have restarted my Xbox many times and it's not working.

Does anyone know what to do?

on the xbox one in settings under power and start up I have power mode set to instant-on yes

Do you have kinect...uh connected? I had same problem, unplugged kinect and it boots normally.

Are you able to use a USB drive in lieu of the hdd? Perhaps the hard drive is just going faulty. I had one hdd do the same sluggish stuff before and everytime I could make it to storage under settings and begin deleting the corruption it would either freeze
in mid deletion or the corruption would return the next time I would boot the console. It kept happening until the hdd caused a general hardware failure known as E68, which relates to a bad hdd. Try a different hard drive or a USB thumbdrive and recover your
gamertag to the new device. Then boot the console into Xbox live and see if that solves the issue. This will determine if it's the console, hdd or network.

I've been having the same problem with my 4 gb 360. It takes 15 minutes to get to the dashboard and another 5 to read a game, even if the game is on the HDD. It also will no longer go on Xbox Live but goes on the internet just fine. I have done all of the
above too with no changes. By the way this is my 3rd console, the 2nd slim.
