xbox one freezing/stuck on home screen

hi,

posting for my little brother the xbox one is froze/freezing/stuck on the home screen and wont do anything

Tried turning consol off for 10 secs holding power button with no joy..

we dont know the email/password used to register it as it signs him in automatically

is there anything that can be done to fix this problem?

whenever we push the home button it freezez on the home screen and wont toggle either way for sometime. At times it will correct itself other times it wont. Done a hard reset and reboot. No luck. Any suggestions

if a power cycle via the following steps does not work

be sure to wait at least 30 seconds after the console was powered down and then disconnect the power from the console for at least 60 seconds before reconnecting the power and powering the console on again.

If that doesn't help, you might want to consider doing a Factory Reset (with keeping Games and Apps installed)

are u able to get to the settings to do a factory reset? If so you can choose that and select to keep all content then it will restart and hopefully resolve the issue for you.

but will this log his account out? as like above we have no user/password for it and he wishes not to lose the data

 

When I did it I don't think it asked me to re-enter my username and password it just auto logged me in again

 

just tried accesing settings it wont move to settings? whats other things that can be done

 

is there any other way of resetting to get to the settings?

I have the exact same poblem we are not able to move ANYTHING we are frozen on the home meneu and nothing will move

 

I have been having almost the same problem after this new update. My Xbox One is going crazy.

 

Similar problem here, console took the Summer update and now cycles between the home screen and my games and apps screen. Spoke to support and spent a few hours downloading the offline update and it still doesn't work. Controller is none responsive but will
turn the console off.

If you are unable to attempt the steps Miss Bijoux provided above, let's try these following steps to see if that affects any change:

• Press and hold the power button until the Xbox One fully powers down.
• Unplug the power cord from the back of the console and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  
• Once the 5 minutes are up, be sure to plug your Xbox One directly into the wall outlet.
  
• Power back on to see if the issue persists.

So my Xbox one is frozen on the update screen 66% updated. I let it sit for 2 days then i. Download the update manually for a offline update. It updated just fine once all the way to 100% then it started to update again then it stopped at 66% again. Any
ideas before i download the factory reset program?
