XBOX ONE Formatted my External SSD with my only videos of my baby!

Hi,

My XBOX ONE Formatted my External SSD when I plugged in my SSD to look at some videos of my baby. I came back later and the SSD was automatically formatted! I've lost everything from that 1st year of my babies life and i'm devastated!

Is there ANY ANY ANY way of retrieving the lost data?

Surely to Christ you need to ask to format a drive, and then ask for confirmation before this happens or am I fricken crazy?

Please please please help.

Is there a way to use an External hard drive for both Xbox One and Pc?

Kinda figured that out. My xbox is not recognizing my hard drive anymore. I formatted it to my computer and then restored it back to factory settings. I would like to format it back to my xbox one. But it doesn't give me the option when I plug it in to my xbox

Xbox One External HD

Hello, Once an external HD is formatted to my Xbox One can instill use it for my PC? Or is my 3TB External HD a now permanent attachment for my Xbox One? Also this is a never been used before 3TB External HD. My Xbox One is saying there's only 2.7TB free.
Is that the limit or is there a problem? Thanks!

as far as I know it is indeed asked and needs confirmation before the console will format anything it at least did when I connected a drive.

Regarding the issue at hand, the only thing you could try is to search and get some recovery software for deleted/formated items. Be sure not to put anything on that drive, since that could prevent any recovering.

I personally don't have any suggestions for such programs, but I know they do exist. So it's best to search for such software and check reviews etc.

I hope you'll be able to recover the videos

Hi, I had the same problem with an external ssd on my xbox one x. Did a secure erase and a ntfs format. Works fine now and superfast too.

My external SSD is already formatted as NTFS. Resetting the app or changing the USB port didn't help as well.

I think you need to format eternal drives for games in a proprietary way. You do on the xbox anyway. My Guess is there is likely some hidden files on the original SSD that you didn't move to the external SSD?

Yes, absolutely. My old PC had it installed on an external SSD. No issues. Just needs to be formatted to NTFS and you're good to go.
