XBox One Forgotten PASSKEY

Hi,

The old forgotten passkey issue raising it's weary head yet again.

Scenario: I am the device 'owner' my son has the secondary account. I have forgotten my passkey so I cannot do anything; authorise or buy anything or grant access to games etc.

Past advice on the forum suggests: 'When you go to enter your pass key enter it wrong three times. It will then ask for your password. After you enter the password you can go to the account settings and delete passkey.'

We have tried this but to get to the bit to enter my Microsoft password on the device it says Authorise. Clicking on that it then says that I need the Internet. We cannot get the internet on the XBox probably due to permissions which of course are now
locked out - unless anyone knows any different. So Plan B: I log in to my Microsoft account via the PC, select manage devices, select XBox One and then... nothing! There is nothing there to reset the device passkey! PLEASE ANYONE what is the solution,
that works? I cannot find a way on either the XBox or via my MS account on the PC and I certainly do not want to factory reset it.

Update: I have now scoured my Xbox profile via the PC and there is nothing there to enable a passkey reset either. I can change privacy and security and my MS password but not the device passkey. Genius work MS! If any one has a solution please respond.

I rechecked all of my settings and found a parental block on my service provider that affected the xbox. Removed it, restarted the xbox and it then downloaded updates indicating internet access was restored.

I was then able to proceed as per others advice. By that time I remembered the passkey and it still worked.

Anyway the lesson is if you've blocked your kids for misdemeanors it helps to unblock when sentence has been served. Doh!

Thanks for reaching out to the forums. We understand you have issue with the passkey. You are correct when entering it wrong three times it will prompt for password, then can delete. If asking for permissions, sounds like the child account is logged in.
Make sure the child account is not logged in then try and reset the passkey.

Basically what the article that the previous poster put in says.

If you forgot your passkey on the Xbox One you can enter in a wrong passkey 3 times and then it will ask you for your password for your account once you put that in you can choose to put in a new passkey or leave the feature of having to put in a passkey
everytime off.

A forgotten passkey defaults to your Microsoft account password. If you forget your passkey, the console will default to your Microsoft account password as a fail-safe
