    Xbox One fluctuating connection speeds

Hi all. (for TLDR go to bottom)

I play BF4 almost every day and can instantly tell when my connection isn't great, so I wanted to ask you guys what you think.

Here's what I've tried so far (I use the Xbox settings to tell me connection speeds and packet lose / Xbox is connected via a cable to modem and is close by):

    1. Power down the modem / router. Works sometimes, but connection goes bad later

    2. Nat: Was strict, but now open

    3. Port forwarding: Tried it, but didn't work, so just put it in DMZ

    4. Packet lose: Usually 0, but can often switch to 1 (never any worse)

    5. Speed test: My ISP tells me I should be hitting around 35mbps which is what I see when I connect my laptop via a lan cable. However, Xbox speeds can go as high as 85 or as low as 16. Rebooting modem sometimes makes a difference, but only occasional

    6. Game disconnects: Often lose connection to EA servers

    7. ISP: I am aware my ISP no longer 'traffic shapes' but does have a fare usage policy (I play from 1 to 4 hours a day)

I recently had my ISP change my modem and if anything its worse now (change was due to connection issues to the net in general).

Are my problems likely to be:

    a. Xbox

    b. ISP

    c. Modem

    d. Set up related

    e. Other

TLDR: Crap connections, dropping out, speed fluctuates etc. Tried a number of easy fixes such as DMZ and new modem but still poor connection. Help please.

    Thanks

    :)

  2. Fluctuating upload speed

Hey guys, I recently switched providers to rogers under their 250/20 ignite bundle, and since doing so, my upload fluctuates heavily. 14, 2, 19, 0.48, 3.21, 6.7, etc. I also get varying packet loss. The gateway that was provided is the Hitron CGN3. I play
with a wired connection, and have tested the Ethernet cord by plugging it into my PC, which consistently gets the correct speeds. I've tried my network on another Xbox one and get the same results, so it isn't my Xbox that's messed up. I've also tried dmz,
which opened my NAT, but didn't steady out my upload as Xbox phone support told me it would. I've been on the phone with rogers for approximately 6 hours, and they told me that it isn't their problem, and Xbox did pretty much the same thing in 3 hours. Nobody
has offered a fix. The strangest thing is that my old provider used the rogers lines and I got a consistent test out of them, just using an olderpdel stand alone modem. Any help is appreciated.

    Network Speeds

When are the server speeds going to be fixed? I have a 1000Mbps internet connection hardwired to the Xbox and I have been downloading Titanfall 2 for 3 hours now. I just checked and I have 12.7Gb left to be downloaded and the speed is fluctuating between
480Kb/s and 900Kb/s. What gives Microsoft? Your servers can't even support maybe even 10Mb/s???

  5. If you know how to access your router from your computer. The only port I have open is

Service Name. XBL = XBOX LIVE

    Type. TCP/UDP

    Start Port. 3074

    End Port. 3074

I also make sure you to set your XBOX IP Address to Reserved.

By doing this your NAT type should be open and have your firewall set to Low Security. This should help and if not try having your internet carrier to come out to fix the issues. Make sure you tell them what's going on.

    @VXR8mate hey hey

Did Your ISP test Your physical line to them? Speed fluctuation can mean that Your ISP has narrow channel somewhere on their path. When more users come, Your speed goes down, because ISP exceed they bandwidth limit.

So to find root of the problem, we need more information.

Modem brand & model number: Virgin hub 2

Router brand & model number: Virgin's own

How many Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles are connected to this router?:Xbox one and 360 (but 360 used rarely)

Wired or Wireless (for each console): wireless controller

Things you have tried: Reebooting console, placing it inside DMZ, Changed DNS last digit from 8 to 4, Port forwarding (didnt work), had a new modem fitted by Virgin the other day (no difference)

Is UPnP Enabled? Yes/No/Unknown: Yes (but i've also tried it off and it made no difference)

Do you have a NAT error? If so, what is your NAT type?: NAT is often open but last night it was closed for some reason. I could connect to games easy though.

Any Error Codes you encounter: No official codes, just lost connection to EA servers

My ISP have run a couple of line tests in the last two weeks and they were fine. I've also run speed tests using a wired connection with all other connections disabled and it proved fine hitting 35mbps with 10m uploads, but the xbox fluctuates from reading
to reading in the space of some 30 mins! It's as if the connection speeds deteriorate over just one gaming session.

It was announced recently that Virgin no longer 'traffic shape' but do use a fair use policy, which I dont think I exceed.

I'm understand, that Virgin do not shape traffic anymore, but, I mean that they have some bottleneck between them and Microsoft.

For example they have 100 megabit connection between them and Microsoft, but they sell 1 gigabit to users. This not something really fantastic, overselling is normal in industry, because not every user would use all bandwidth all the time. But sometimes
they can exceed the bandwidth and at that time You can got speed fluctuation.

Of course this is only my thoughts, because I can't see routing path from Your side and do not have any statistic about they channel bandwidth.
