Hello , i don´t know if this is the correct forum to post this , but since the support chat in my country(Portugal) is unavaible to contact me, and the English chat supporters did not help me much . I will post my issue here:

I bought my xbox one in October at my local retailer , in the beginning of February i got an error message saying that the xbox would shutdown to prevent damage from overheating , i went to the store from which i bought the console so it could be sent back
to microsoft for repair . I know i could have sent it myself,but since i´m used to buy things to this store i let them handle the process .

The console was sent to Microsoft European Repair Center , but was not repaired it was returned as unrepair with a letter saying that, it was not repaired due to being "observed " that the console was opened ,and/or modified. My console was inspected by
my local retailer before being sent to microsoft ,they don´t send anything that has been opened or without a factory seal ,it was only stated in the paper that they give me that the console had marks of use .

I arrive home and open the box in witch the console came and i notice that it had no factory seal in the back, i connect the console and i see my profile and games still there so i assume this is my console , the serial numbers are also the same .But to
my surprise the console is working it doesnt display that error message and doesn´t shutdown.So i assume it was repaired but it´s warranty removed ? It doesn´t make sense.

Also in the xbox.com site where i have the console registered i now have this:

I am very disapointed with this , my console only had some marks of use , was never opened , and it was allegedly not repaired . I have been suporting xbox since the original xbox and bought my xbox one as soon it was avaible in Portugal (the country in
witch it´s rival has the biggest market quote ) and now i get this , the console is working but without warranty . I will have no other option other than go to the association of consumer defense in my country if this is not resolved .I would like just to
have my warranty re activated and an apologize from xbox and an explanation of what happened.

The console is working fine but image if it was not, that would mean that i just had wasted 400€. I hope that someone can tell me what happened why was my warranty removed and why was sent back as not repaired .

RRoD out of warranty

Microsoft is the only authorized repair center for their consoles. The use of any other repair service would leave your console open for enforcement action. If MS did not do the repair then no they will not repair
it, not even if you pay them. They would just send it back to you unrepaired with a letter stating that it was tampered with.

Nothing you can do except buy a new one. No one can discuss self repair here with you. And sincr you opened it you violated the warranty and repair terms. So even if you send it in for repair they will just send it right back unrepaired with a letter saying
it was tampered with.

The flag I can see on the account is "warranty voided (tamper) Ineligible for repair".

This flag would be due to one of the following:

: * The console was repaired by a third party person or shop other than the repair center of Xbox or Microsoft.

: * Hardware was Changed.

: * Software was upgraded or degraded.

: * Part/s have been replaced.

: * Parts have been bypassed inside. ( can anyone say #$%^ wallmart ) my advice to fellow gamers out there, buy from a gamer store, cuz gamers work there and they know how to put a used sticker on a used console!!!!!

Hi, there is little recourse I'm afraid. If the repair centre have deemed the Xbox tampered with then that's pretty much it.

However it does make me wonder why they would send a system back in that condition, why would they even open the Xbox up, I have some theories on this as for some reason many day one owners have had similar issues as you.

From day one systems were sent out with missing side plates etc as I know from experience. does this indicate that the manufacturing process is at fault, is it possible that internal warranty seals were left off which then leaves you in this position of
being accused of tampering when you didn't ?

I'm in no position to verify any of this but it does stink, I have seen cases where the warranty/serial number sticker on the bottom of the Xbox has becomes so badly scratched that the serial number is illegible and the Xbox has been returned unrepaired
with the same letter you had enclosed.

It's all guess work of course on my part but something isn't right when so many people have their systems returned due to tampering and they claim they didn't tamper with the Xbox at all.

I don't know what to advise from this point on, as the repair centre have now deemed the Xbox tampered you're kind of up the creek without a paddle.

The repair process takes 14-21 business days. from the time they get it, to the time you get the Xbox back.

The Xbox would not have been received on one day and repaired on the next. The only time there is such a short turnaround is when they find that the tamper seal is broken or they find that the Xbox has been tampered with.

If everything goes ok, I would expect that the console would be shipping out this week.

Xbox Support does not have direct contact with the repair center. Xbox Support can only see the status of what the repair center posts on the "case notes" and those notes from the repair center are brief at best.

When the Xbox ships out, you should receive a tracking number. And when you check on that tracking number, it's going to say Not Found in the Fedex system until the Xbox gets scanned at a regional/local distribution center.
