Xbox One February Update - TV Speakers now emit an audible high-pitched whine/static sound

    Hello,

I received the February Update over the weekend while my console was in 'Instant-on' standby mode. Upon turning the console back on, I received the green progress bar screen indicating the update was being installed. Throughout this process, there was an
audible whining/static noise being emitted from my TV Speakers (This has never occurred before). I was hoping that it was just going to occur during the update, but that is not the case. The sound is still occurring throughout my entire Home screen and Game
experiences. On Home, whenever a sound effect plays (highlighting a tile, selecting a tile, etc.) The high-pitched whine will cut out, the sound effect will play, and then the high-pitched whine will start back up again. In games, it's mostly in-audible because
of game-specific background music, sound effects, etc. but if I am on a loading screen with no sound it’s definitely audible. My Xbox One console is using HDMI audio 'Stereo uncompressed' setting in 'Display & sound' menu. I have tried the following to no
    avail:

    - Switching to another HDMI cable

    - Using another input on the TV

    - Changing audio options on my TV

    - Changing my Xbox One console sound options

    - Hard Reboot by pressing and holding power

    - Power cycling by unplugging the power supply from the console

At this point, the only thing I have yet to try is 'Restore factory defaults' as I do not want to have to download all my content again. Another thing I guess I could try is hooking up the console to another TV to see if it may just be my HDTV not playing nice
with the Xbox One console after the update. All of my other devices work just fine (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, etc.) so I don’t believe it’s my TV (7 year old LG 42” 1080p LCD TV) that is the problem.

Just want to know if anyone else is experiencing this problem at all.

    Thanks.

    :)

I had the same problem with the high pitched static sound. I just restarted destiny and it got rid of the static sound.

    High Pitched Whine

New XBOX 360 Elite has a loud high pitched whine when the system is off. I've updated to the most recent software version but appears to be hardware(coil) related.

If there is another active thread please move this post, as all the others I foundseemed to be closed.

  4. Xbox One February Update - TV Speakers now emit an audible high-pitched whine/static sound

I'm experiencing this same thing. At first it only occurred in game when a high pitched noise went off and then it would continue screeching long after the match was over. Now there's just a constant high pitched sound that my tv is sending off when I turn
on the Xbox One. This only started happening after the update for me as well. I've done all those same things and it's still persisting.

Yeah the problem definitely still occurs for me. I cannot think of anything else I could do to make this sound stop, short of buying a new TV. Have you tried your Xbox One on another TV? And if so, does that high-pitched whine sound persist?

One thing I have noticed with the latest Beta Preview update is that I'm now able to change my HDMI audio option to 'Bitstream out' with a 'Dolby Digital' Bitstream format. When I change it to that, the high-pitched whine/static I hear with 'Stereo Uncompressed'
does go away, but now I get crackling sounds through my TV speakers. It seems like this crackling is a known issue though, and apparently additional fixes have gone in to the latest Beta Preview update (1404) that is being deployed tonight.

Hopefully something positive comes out of this latest preview, although I’m not holding my breath.

Xbox Elite Wireless Series 2 controller - Annoying noises when vibrating.

The sound starts when the motors first engage and is audible at every intensity, especially at lower power levels. The sound is a high pitched whine that stays at the same frequency no matter how fast the motor spins. Sounds almost like morse code or coil whine. The sound does not appear when vibration is turned off, but I don't consider that a solution to the problem.
