Xbox One fan ROARS LOUDLY when a graphics-heavy game loads like Fortnite and then it shuts...

I'm not an Xbox hardware engineer by any means, but based on experience the fan operates when it's needed. The fan usually comes on during game loads or other taxing functions to release hot air and keep the console cool. There is no fan curve or algorithm
as to when the fan comes on, I believe it's mainly powered on when it's needed as said before when going into a graphics heavy game like RDR2.

It is louder than the original Xbox One. Mine can be heard when not in game or watching a movie.

The One X will also at times sound loud, as it ramps the fan up to cool during heavy graphics action.

I was told by a Microsoft representative over chat that they give a "grace" period after your device Warranty is over. Contact them from chat and ask, hopefully they give it. After all the problems I encountered when trying to fix my Xbox1X it is surely
interesting to hear if they do honor their own words!

Hey all. Earlier tonight my Xbox started shutting off while I was playing Fortnite. It wasn't having an issue lately with me playing more indie pixel-graphic games, and it still isn't. If I load into a graphics-heavy game though I hear the fans rev up and
then about 3 seconds later it just shuts off. When it starts again, it gives me a bunch of tips about how to keep the console cool.

It's standing upright with nothing in the way, and it's not inside a cabinet. I've done some Googling and found that a lot of people have a thermal paste issue and have fixed it that way. Other people have just walked into Microsoft Stores with it and had
it repaired or swapped out that way. Any suggestions? My closest store is over an hour away and it's snowing this week. :-/

Are you talking about when the Xbox console is idle or when playing a game? I believe the fan noise is normal compared to some heavy games like RDR2.

Perhaps in picking an MMO, you should have picked one which hasn't been shut down City Of Heroes Goes Out With A Roar And A Bang.
