xbox one fan bearings

does anyone know of a way to get rid of the fan noise from the console without having to replace the fan myself or pay an outrageous fee?



from around 6 months after getting the console ive been able to hear scratching from the fan which has become unbearable now that i try to use the console to watch films/tv shows or youtube and since the console is a day one its abit late to have anything
done about a defect

That's a fan bearing failure.

Call Xbox Support, they most likely will send you a new one. Chances are the fan is clogged or the bearing is shot. I suggest you dont leave your xbox in standby since all the fans and even the HD will remain active.

 

You are either going to have to take care of it yourself (which is not recommended) or pay someone to do it for you (Microsoft is suggested especially if it is under warranty). If you have anyone but Microsoft open the console then if you ever need to send
it to Microsoft they will not work on it.

thanks for the responses, i was mainly curious to see if it was a common defect.

after some research i found i can pick up a silent fan that is compatible with the console for less than £20. through official means the failing fan would warrant a full replacement which seemed unjustifiably expensive and could not guarantee to rectify
the issue which primarily was the noise
