So I'm thinking of purchasing a second Xbox one for my son's room.

If I create his own account under our family Xbox Live Gold can he play the games that I have digitally downloaded if I also download them on his Xbox One?

Also if he is able to, would we both be able to play the same game at the same time together online?

For example can we both play Minecraft on separate consoles, together?

I didn't mean through the Xbox home method but like just through having them in the same family.

You would need to set his console as your Home console in order for him to access your games/gold subscription. You can still play your games on any other console as long as you are signed into Live.

Im having the same issue. I realize that we can play the games together but I cant get to play separate games at the same time.

I purchased my son a digital copy of WW2 on my account. When I am not logged in to the console he cant "find" the game when he hits the game icon. It asks him if he owns the game. I tried changing the one he is using as the home xbox already. I can start
him on the game in my account in the living room, once I log in my bedroom with my account, different game, he can continue to play his game. I can play for about 10-20 minutes before he runs back and says he got disconnected. I have to log back in to the
other game, kicking me out of the game im in originally, to log him in the living room again.

Im trying to avoid having a second Xbox live account in one house, after having purchased two consoles now.

Short answer yes but there is some steps to follow for setting up a home console sharing on the console. Try it and let us know how
it goes

Previously stated, the home console is the only viable option for sharing items with other accounts.

There was a previous method of sharing within a family, but this has since been removed when the release of the Xbox One console occurred.
