Xbox One Factory reset duration

Some of my games have suddenly disappeared from my games library - some on the console, some on an external hard drive. Looking at the community forums, it looks like the best action was to do a factory reset (selecting the option to keep games and apps). How long does this process normally take? We started this process over 12 hours ago, but the screen still just shows 'Preparing Console'. Many thanks.

Thanks! That helped - I unplugged it for a while then re-started the console. It seemed to kick start the reset into action. I've had to reinstall the 'missing' games but at least it is progress. Thanks for your help.

This process should only take a few minutes. If it's stuck on the 'Preparing Console' screen, try powering it off by holding the power button for 10 seconds or unplugging the console. Then turn it back on and attempt the factory reset again.

Mine just started doing this exact same thing. Really sucks having to reload Fallout 4 mods every single time!! Funny that I never had this problem until I did the latest Fallout 4 automatic game upgrade/patch (extra content on the
start up menu that I doubt I'll ever use). Sounds like a bug in the system and not bad consoles. That's my guess.

The same things is happening to me, and it appears several other people in different forum posts as well, so I don't think it's your console. Hopefully we'll hear something soon about this.
