Digital Foundry compares 4 different HD's (SSHD,5400,7200) in their youtube videos. They were all extremely close in start up, transfer & download speeds.

If you want performance you need to pick your our own hard drive and buy a good enclosure for it because most all consumer external drives are meant for one purpose which is storage and most have 5200-5400rpm drives inside them so that they're quiet, put
off the least amount of heat, and consume the least amount of power.

A performance hard drive would be something like the Western Digital Black drives or the Seagate 2TB or 4GB 7200rpm SSHD which would likely give the best performance in the X1. Beyond that the next step up in performance would be an SSD which is more expensive
and gives you a lot less storage.

I was planning on getting a 2TB drive and figured the 7200 rpm would be a nice bonus. Really wish it was an option but I can't seem to find any

Just remember SSD's are still some what pricy compared to a 5400 rpm and 7200rpm HDD. So it all depends wether or not you want fast load time. I had a SSD laying around and tested it on my X1 using a USB 3.0 to a SATA III SSD with enclosure and I can say
for sure that games that are on my SSD loads a lot faster.

But if you want just a large external hard drive to install all your games and apps for the X1 a USB 3.0 external HDD will work just fine.

Hello everyone

I only have Forza Motorsport 5 and if I recall correctly, I still have like 325 GBs of space left in my HDD.

Do you guys think that it will get allmost full after I get Sunset Overdrive, Halo Master Chief Collection, and Dragon Age Inquisition?
