Xbox One External HDD won't work

Discus and support Xbox One External HDD won't work in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; So when I ever I click format on my Xbox One I go to the screen where I change the name of the HDD and it instantly crashes and my Xbox is loading...     Xbox One External HDD won't work


    So when I ever I click format on my Xbox One I go to the screen where I change the name of the HDD and it instantly crashes and my Xbox is loading something and it won't stop, just keeps loading forever and ever.

    I bought a Western Digital 1TB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive

    I'm starting to think the Xbox One isn't powerful enough to read a 1TB data, if someone can help me fix this before I shoot the Xbox I'd appreciate it

    External HDD Locked to XB1?

    I just hooked a 1TB external HDD to my Xbox One to see how it works out. My Xbox One's HDD is only half full so there is no need yet to use the External. I tried hooking my External HDD to my PC and it won't show up in My Computer. Is it locked to the Xbox
    one and not able to be used by any other device? This is a big problem if so because I've not seen anything say this at all. The Xbox 360 external storage allowed you to format it from your PC. Hopefully there is a solution to this.

    I am really glad that you won't have to re-install games if your Xbox One goes bad Xbox One External HDD won't work :)

    I am going to have to transfer all of my installed game stuff to my External HDD when I eventually get it Xbox One External HDD won't work :)

    Can I transfer the stuff from the Xbox One HDD to the External HDD without having to delete the game and re-install it to the External HDD?

    Same for me!! Oh my God I never thought I'd find someone who had the same problem! No offense, but this is a huge relief. Also, the xbox one is powerful enough to read 1 TB of data, people I know have 5 TB Hard Drives.

    I know it was meant more of a joke lol but yeah I have no idea how to fix this, I'm on the new dashboard that might be a problem?

    As far as I know, it seems the preview dashboard IS causing it, but nobody knows how to fix it yet.

    try unplugging the external hard drive and restarting your console and plug the externall hdd back in.

    There are some issues with external HDD in the preview program, As you are in the program you should post there to get the help you need.

    Same thing for me...Bought a new HDD, the console recognized it, but the rotating circle icon turns on right after it tries to have you name the HDD...I reported it with the feedback app.

    I'm having the same problem as all of you and tried everything the best thing you can do is opt out of the preview program

    Glad to know I'm not only one with this problem, with halo and a couple other games coming out I need this 4tb to work D: ! Hopefully there's a fix on the way.

    Yoostar 2 & External Harddrives

    Okay a little confusing but here's how it works. When any External Device be it a HDD or Flash Drive is used as a Storage Device (Memory for the Xbox 360), the Xbox 360 will only recognize it as such (a Storage Device) via the
    USB. In short, a really huge External HDD becomes a 16Gb (Max) Storage Device from USB.

    Some Games and some Features of Xbox LIVE require an Official MS Xbox 360 HDD that is for that particular Xbox 360 Console (ie Slim with Slim HDD). Simply using an External HDD will not work for these cases. Any External Storage Device is meant to supplement,
    not replace an Official HDD or the performance of one that some Games and Features require.

    500 gb is indeed small. It's a shame we can't hook up a 2 terabyte external usb3 hdd... oh wait, Sony is the one that won't let you use external hdd, ms well let you. I prefer external to internal storage any way. It's more flexible.

    As of right now, Destiny is going to be my main game for my Xbox One and as far as the small size of the Xbox One's HDD is concerned; I really hope that I won't have to buy an external HDD at all.

    I would asssume that it will work, but I'd wait until Xbox lets us know for sure, there may be some requirements specific to the Scarlett for external HDD to work with it, so best to not buy one, atleast until we are told by Xbox if scarlett will support
    external HDD and if so, what the requirements are.
