    Xbox One External HD

    Hello,

So I have a 3TB External Hard Drive currently hooked up to my Xbox One with a 5TB External Hard Drive waiting to take its play when it gets full. However I am currently running out of space, so it is finally time to switch to the 5TB External Hard Drive.
How do I transfer all the data from my 3TB External Hard Drive to the replacement 5TB External Hard Drive?

    :)

    Xbox One External HD

Hello, Once an external HD is formatted to my Xbox One can instill use it for my PC? Or is my 3TB External HD a now permanent attachment for my Xbox One? Also this is a never been used before 3TB External HD. My Xbox One is saying there's only 2.7TB free.
Is that the limit or is there a problem? Thanks!

  3. External HD (WD My Passport) always on and than corrupted game installs - finally not detected anymore!

I have used an external HD (WD My Passport - 500gb) on my Xbox One for the last month. I am on instant on and noticed the external HD never turned off, even when console got turned off. A few days ago my system began to behave strangely and, after a simple
reboot, I noticed my external HD was not detected anymore. The Xbox also got suck at the green loading boot screen and only after many tries it turned on again (hours booting). The external HD showed up and, when I tried to boot a game, it gave me a corrupted
game install message (the game was on external). Straight afterwards the external HD was not recognized again.

I lost 300gb of downloads and am trying to fix the external HD on a windows PC (running a full erase). My Xbox One works normally without an external HD. Could the Xbox have ruined my external HD, as it never got turned off for a whole month? I read similar
problems in another xbox forum topic. Something to do with last update? How am I supposed to fit games in the small 500gb internal HD?

    Xbox One External HD

    Hi there,

you should be able to move content from one storage device to another storage device via the Xbox One via the following steps:

How do I manage external storage?

In My games & apps, you can view content by storage device. To do this, highlight a game or app, press the Menu button on your controller, and then select Manage game. You will then be able to move or copy content between storage devices.

Just to add on to the information provide. You can only move one game at a time so you are looking at an extremely lengthy process. Have you considered just having both storage devices connected and operational at the same time?

Given the limit on number of external storage units, there should be a reasonable migration path from smaller drives to larger drives that doesn't involve moving each game individually.

That is a very reasonable assumption but currently there is no other way of doing it. I know that is not what you wanted to hear but unfortunately that is the option currently. Good Luck on whatever decision you make.

@Genesis1953 Can you really have two external hard drives hooked up at the same time? I thought I tried that but only the one that was most recently plugged in would load.

My Ext. Hard Drive shuts my XBONE off/crashes

    Hi AyeYaya,

It sounds that the external HD may have gotten corrupted causing the Xbox One to shutdown since you are able to use the console fine without the external HD plugged in.

Do you happen to have another external HD that meets the requirements for testing purposes? Or would you happen to be able to try that HD on another Xbox?

You may need to delete what you have on there, re-format the HD for the Xbox One, and then download what you had on there again.

    Hhd

    Hi The king of riders

Is the HD external or internal?

If it's an external hard drive used on one xbox one, it will work perfectly on another xbox

why can't external devices be used as a secondary memory device

USB devices aren't supported in the emulator

You will have toove your xbox one games unto the external hd and then use the internal hd for xbox one

    xbox originals

its an external or internal attachment you must buy depending on your model

if it is the old arcade units it an external hd (you need an offical xbox one) or the internal 250 gig hd s for the 4 gig xbox s units
