    Xbox One External HD not working! Not Recognized! How to fix?


    My Xbox One Microsoft External HD is not being recognized by my console. I bought an Xbox brand HD to not have this issue. I've tried all the microsoft support suggested troubleshooting fixes, no luck. Computer recognized that it's there but cannot connect.
    How do I fix?

    I have tried all the steps on the website and the Xbox One still doesn't recognize my Toshiba HD (1tb, usb 3.0). At a loss of what to try next...Can anyone help please?

    NOTHING IS WORKING. External Hard Drive

    If it is not recognized on a PC or XBox One it sounds like the hard drive failed in some way. How long have you had the external HD? What is the make and model? If it is less than a year old you should be covered under the manufacturer's warranty for a replacement
    HD.

    Hi there!

    Thanks for reaching out to us with this issue. Since your console is no longer recognizing your external HD and you've gone through and tried every option from the support article regarding the recognition of the external drive (Troubleshoot
    external storage detection on Xbox One    ), then you would definitely need to try to do as our awesome Ambassador Julian_ has suggested and connect your external HD to a Windows 10 device to see if it is recognized.

    If it is recognized then you may need to
    reformat it to NTFS     to be compatible with your console. If it is not, then your external may have stopped working altogether and you would need to replace it.

    I hope that this helps out a bit more.

    Using External Hard Drive ?

    @GrowlingYapper I own a 4TB external HD that I use to play media off of on my Xbox 360. It was a bit of a pain getting it to recognize it as well as recognize it as a media player which are two totally different things. Do you know if a 4TB would work as
    a media player on an Xbox One. I plan on grabbing a one but want to use my external as a media drive and have no intentions of using it as a stroage for games, etc.

    Does the XBOX do this with any other external HD's or just this one? I agree with the others and it sounds like the console is having problems recognizing this drive.
