    Xbox one - External HD issue


    Hi Guys,

    I dont know if anyone else has had an issue like this but this morning when I woke up I noticed my Xbox was on. When I changed the TV to the other HDMI it just kept crashing and resetting as soon as the Xbox One logo appeared. I performed a hard reset and
    went to work. On trying it again this evening the problem is still occurring, until I unplugged my external HD. As soon as I plug in the external HD it resets and keeps crashing. The HD had worked perfectly for a year with no bother. My laptop picks up the
    HD without any issues.

    Any advice or info on how to resolve this issue would be appreciated.

    had my xb1 since launch and bought 2 external hd for about 2 yrs now. Today my xb1 will not detect either drive. Kinda frustrating because all my games are on either drive. Tried the hard reset, I do not have it on instant on, and both have worked fine until
    today. Do I have any other options, also tried to change the plug that the drive is in, it detected one, but still not the other.

    External hd issue

    The only solution to make the external harddisk work again is connect it to a pc and delete it or simply destroy the partition. The next time you connect it to the XBox One it suddenly appears and the menu asks how it should be formatted.

    A very big shame on Microsoft for that stupid coders on the XBox Security

    Hello Vash,

    Sorry for the issue with your audio on games. We recommend one of the games you are having an audio issue with, install it on the internal HD. Then unplug the external and try the game see if it still has audio issues. This will test to see if it the external
    HD or the Xbox.

    Were the HD's Xbox ones or were they external? If they were external drives then you should try an official Xbox hard drive. Otherwise it may be an issue with the console itself and may be in need of a repair.

    Hi Vegito Chan,

    I see you mention that this was an issue prior to having the external HD but it continues still.

    -What is the download/upload speed (according to your Xbox One) not according to the plan under the ISP?

    -Does the external HD that you're using also have a power cable that plugs into the wall?

    -What are the power settings on the external HD?

    -Have you tested this by making the internal HD primary to see if this still occurs?

    -Are you wired or wirelessly connected to your router/modem?

    Hi AyeYaya,

    It sounds that the external HD may have gotten corrupted causing the Xbox One to shutdown since you are able to use the console fine without the external HD plugged in.

    Do you happen to have another external HD that meets the requirements for testing purposes? Or would you happen to be able to try that HD on another Xbox?

    You may need to delete what you have on there, re-format the HD for the Xbox One, and then download what you had on there again.

    If it's an external hard drive used on one xbox one, it will work perfectly on another xbox
