Xbox one external Harddrive

Hey Guys,

Thank you for taking the time to read this, I do not usually write in forums (I am a horrible typist as well as awful at checking back on things) and so usually live with problems, figgure them out or find a google/youtube fix, but this one has me stumped.

Less than 6mo ago I bought a 2tb usb 3.0 passport External HD, all was going swimmingly till one day is began to disconnect and never stay on if it ever re-connected after the initial disconnect. I have ran through the normal gamut of web search fixes,
power cycle, different cords and ports and different Xboxes even but as I wanted to attempt to save the load of games (read: download times) I was unwilling to re-format it. This evening I finally attached it to my pc, and fired up mini tool partition wizard
and saw that the drive now 7 partitions on it. Mind you I bought it expressly for the Xbox so it went from store and package to xbox formatting it to installing games.

I am no tech wizard but from what I have gleaned usually no more than 4 partitions are recommended so I am wondering if one; tgis is savable and the data wont be lost (read: don't have to wait for sllooowww downloads.) and two why this is and what happened?
I am attempting to attach a screenshot to this of the mini wiz partition info but again am not great at some aspects of these modern times and the internet/pc operations but this should be straight fairly straight forward.

Regardless of attachment anyhelp short of "reformat" and start again would be appreciated and if it comes to ""no data is salvageable" reformat please , if you are able, let me know why this happened and how I can prevent it in the future.
