Xbox One external Hard drive

I recently purchased a external hard drive for my Xbox One and when i set to settings and storage and press A on it and select to format for games and apps it just goes into a infinite load and never formats the drive. I am a preview member and have the
new hard drive not sure if that could be contributing to the problem.

if adverts for "compatible" external hard drives are any indication it would seem the external storage patch should be coming some time soon although I note it wont be in the first patch released.

Sorry to see your having problems, but the preview program forums are really the best place to post if your having issues while in the preview program

I found this there which may help you.

Download this XBOX ONE External Drive Converter Usage: files.v3n3.org/.../XBOX.One.External.Storage.Converter.v1.1.rar

Then Do This:

Usage: (Create a new XBOX One External Storage Device)

Plug in a USB 3.0 enabled Disk Drive into your PC.

Format the drive so that it is visible to your PC in a logical drive format (NTFS, FAT, etc).

Choose "Create XBOX Drive".

Select the drive.

Continue through the warnings.

Drive should show up in the list.

Plug your drive into your XBOX One console and enjoy External Storage capabilities.

Hey there. I wouldn't use anything third party. This is a known issue with the preview program, but make sure you report it via the console and in the preview forums:

forums.xbox.com/.../default.aspx

Also, make sure you post any other issues in that forum, so that the Preview team sees your post and can work on a fix.

Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry to hear that the issue is persistent on the External Hard Drive.

Have you tried connecting the hard drive to a PC?

Does the PC recognize the external hard drive?

Does the external hard drive meet the specifications for the Xbox One?

If the problem persists, I recommend to try a different external hard drive on the Xbox if possible. One thing we want to make sure, Are the ports on the Xbox One functioning?

As an idea for xbox one hard drives because they are internal and not external try plugging in an external drive to save or transfer all important games to external hard drive and leave not so important games onto internal drive
that way you can take them anywhere and not have hard drive failures with xbox one.

Are you running it off of the hard drive on the Xbox One or an external one? If you are playing off of the internal drive on the Xbox One then you may want to get an external for it because that is a known issue as far as the Xbox One hard drive and this
game.
