Xbox one External Hard Drive Problems

So I add a External Hard Drive to my xbox 1 it is a Toshiba 1TB Automatic Backup Portable Hard Drive and I installed so games to it and they will freeze and make my Xbox 1 blackscreen when trying to play them from the external hdd but if I move them to the
internal hdd the games will work just fine, I thought that all 3.0 usb hard drives are compatible with xbox 1 as long as they were 256gb and usb 3.0? I have tryed all 3 usb ports on the x1 and I have also even tryed a y-cable and still get the same problems.
Is there a way to fix to this or will i have to get another external hdd?

if adverts for "compatible" external hard drives are any indication it would seem the external storage patch should be coming some time soon although I note it wont be in the first patch released.

could very well be the actuall hdd caddy that is the issue, i would try formatting the drive on the pc first then try again, if not send the dive back to where you purchased from as faulty. WD Passport drives work well and get the power off the usb, been
using one since hdd support arrived (2tb), but alas i have to upgrade as now run out of space.

Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry to hear that the issue is persistent on the External Hard Drive.

Have you tried connecting the hard drive to a PC?

Does the PC recognize the external hard drive?

Does the external hard drive meet the specifications for the Xbox One?

If the problem persists, I recommend to try a different external hard drive on the Xbox if possible. One thing we want to make sure, Are the ports on the Xbox One functioning?

I am having trouble with my external hard drive on my xbox one and ever since that new update my xbox one wont recognize that my external hard drive is plugged in I have tried the trouble shooting steps and nothing seems to work and my external hard drive
is a 3.0 Toshiba external drive is this problem going to be fixed before its released to the general public because I want to play my games that are saved to that drive can anyone tell me if this problem is even being looked into at all

There is a possibility that there is either a connection issue with your external hard drive or somehow the external drive is corrupted. One possible solution is to uninstall the game and then reinstall the game. Try installing the game on only the internal Xbox hard drive to see if that fixes the problem. Also, try launching other games on your external hard drive to see if how those games are functioning normally.
