Xbox One External hard drive problem

Hey, I was wondering if someone could help.

I've got my external hard drive. It has cause no problem for me so far, in fact, it helped a lot.

Just last night, I've experienced a problem with it. The Hard drive lights up, it works fine, but my xbox is not detecting it. I've been through all the methods to solve the problem, right down to the full reboot, and the method that helped a lot in the
past, the 'harsh restart', and nothing has happened. I can't tell if it's a new problem or that my xbox is malfunctioning.

If there is any new method that could help, I would really appreciate the help.

The hard drive I use is a Seagate Expansion USB 3.0 2.5 in external HD.

Any help is appreciated.

Hard Drive Storage Limit

if adverts for "compatible" external hard drives are any indication it would seem the external storage patch should be coming some time soon although I note it wont be in the first patch released.

Quick Fix? - New Dashboard preview update problem

Unplug your external hard drive and do a hard reboot. Then when your Xbox is back on the home screen, plug your external hard drive back in. I had that same problem.

The latest update should have fixed that problem though. Go to Settings and System to see if there is an available update.

I'm sorry someone hasn't got back to sooner. It sounds like you have tried a few things already. But, I just want to double-check, were you able to tried the steps outlined in "Troubleshoot
external storage detection on Xbox One" ? If so, and the problem continues, then may I suggest doing a "How to reset your console to factory defaults
on Xbox One" . You will have the option to keep your games and apps, but it will take sometime to complete. I hope that you can follow up and let us know if this helped.

Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry to hear that the issue is persistent on the External Hard Drive.

Have you tried connecting the hard drive to a PC?

Does the PC recognize the external hard drive?

Does the external hard drive meet the specifications for the Xbox One?

If the problem persists, I recommend to try a different external hard drive on the Xbox if possible. One thing we want to make sure, Are the ports on the Xbox One functioning?

I am having trouble with my external hard drive on my xbox one and ever since that new update my xbox one wont recognize that my external hard drive is plugged in I have tried the trouble shooting steps and nothing seems to work and my external hard drive
is a 3.0 Toshiba external drive is this problem going to be fixed before its released to the general public because I want to play my games that are saved to that drive can anyone tell me if this problem is even being looked into at all

There is a possibility that there is either a connection issue with your external hard drive or somehow the external drive is corrupted. One possible solution is to uninstall the game and then reinstall the game. Try installing the game on only the internal Xbox hard drive to see if that fixes the problem. Also, try launching other games on your external hard drive to see if how those games are functioning normally.
