Xbox One External Hard Drive Problem

So i Yesterday turned on my Xbox and the external hard drive says it was 100% full but nothing was showing on it in the my games and app menu. I know the hard drive isn't full because i as playing halo 5 earlier and i had 1.3 TB left after a few games i
turned the Xbox off for a few hours then turned it back on and that's when i stared having the problem. I left it off for the rest of the night turned back on today and the problem is still there. I have tried to format the hard drive but it seems formatting
doesn't work with the latest update. I am just wondering if anyone has had this problem before or has heard of this happening before and has a solution.

Hard Drive Storage Limit

if adverts for "compatible" external hard drives are any indication it would seem the external storage patch should be coming some time soon although I note it wont be in the first patch released.

Quick Fix? - New Dashboard preview update problem

Unplug your external hard drive and do a hard reboot. Then when your Xbox is back on the home screen, plug your external hard drive back in. I had that same problem.

The latest update should have fixed that problem though. Go to Settings and System to see if there is an available update.

Have you tried to carry out a hard reset on the console?

If not then press and hold the power button on the front of the console for 5-10 seconds once powered down unplug the console for 1-2 minutes then power the console back up without the external drive connected. Once the dashboard comes up plug the drive
back in and see what happens afterwards

Hi thanks for getting back to me, yea i have tried hard resting and a factory reset and the problem is still there. I find it weird is that i was playing halo on later on that day and it was working fine. It wasn't until i turned the Xbox back on i stared
having the hard drive problem .

Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry to hear that the issue is persistent on the External Hard Drive.

Have you tried connecting the hard drive to a PC?

Does the PC recognize the external hard drive?

Does the external hard drive meet the specifications for the Xbox One?

If the problem persists, I recommend to try a different external hard drive on the Xbox if possible. One thing we want to make sure, Are the ports on the Xbox One functioning?

I am having trouble with my external hard drive on my xbox one and ever since that new update my xbox one wont recognize that my external hard drive is plugged in I have tried the trouble shooting steps and nothing seems to work and my external hard drive
is a 3.0 Toshiba external drive is this problem going to be fixed before its released to the general public because I want to play my games that are saved to that drive can anyone tell me if this problem is even being looked into at all

There is a possibility that there is either a connection issue with your external hard drive or somehow the external drive is corrupted. One possible solution is to uninstall the game and then reinstall the game. Try installing the game on only the internal Xbox hard drive to see if that fixes the problem. Also, try launching other games on your external hard drive to see if how those games are functioning normally.
