Xbox one External hard drive problem ,

Hi ,

I just plugged in my external hard drive to the console so i can back up my games on it and it said that it needs to be formatted so i did , then after that i went to copy some game and it did and when it reached 3% it said installation stopped and the hard
drive is not recognized by the console any more , i have tried to plugged it out and in and nothing happened also turned the console off and on and nothing happened ,

i put it back into my pc and it doesn't shows up on "My computer" its only shows up in "Devices and printers" ,

Please help me to fix this problem and thanks ,

Hard Drive Storage Limit

if adverts for "compatible" external hard drives are any indication it would seem the external storage patch should be coming some time soon although I note it wont be in the first patch released.

Quick Fix? - New Dashboard preview update problem

Unplug your external hard drive and do a hard reboot. Then when your Xbox is back on the home screen, plug your external hard drive back in. I had that same problem.

The latest update should have fixed that problem though. Go to Settings and System to see if there is an available update.

 

Hey there!

When the Xbox Formats the hard drive it means its preparing it to store Xbox games and media, try power cycling the console (Hold down the power button for 10 seconds, wait for 30 seconds and then restart)

Then if that does not help try formatting the Hard drive again, if that gives no success i suggest returning the hard drive and getting it exchanged

you can try using Disk Management on your PC, and reformatting or reinitializing the drive to bring it back to the original state, then using the xbox to format it for storage again. i would suggest as mentioned above, after formatting, to reboot the console.

 

Did all of the above & nothing happened , when i connect the hard drive to the pc it is only appears on device and printers , ican't see it in disk management ,

i would check in Device Manager to see if it displays with a yellow ! symbol. there could be an issue with the drivers. also check the little icon in the bottom right corner where you can Safely Remove the drive. it should show the name of the external
drive. if you look at Disk Management, you have may just not noticed the drive. sometimes you have to scroll down to see more drives, and if it was uninitialized then it wouldn't look like a normal drive with a usable partition, it would show as a blank
entry.

check and see what it is listed as in Devices & Printers and Device Manager, or maybe again in Disk Management, and let us know what it says, including any notes or icons that it may have alongside it. perhaps we can provide some more support knowing the
exact model and status you are seeing.

 

its soo weird though it only appears in device manager nothing in disk managment and nothing in device manager sooo soo weird !!!!! and the xbox is not detecting it also :/ i just need to re-format it to solve this problem but this is like so weird :v
