    XBox One external drive not recognized


    I bought a 256 gb USB 3.0 thumbdrive for the XBox. Everything went as expected. It worked for a few days and then it wouldn't recognize the drive. I tried all the suggestions in the forum to no avail. Then I put it in my PC and reformatted and then
    put it back in the XBox. I have now done this twice. Works perfectly but is a pain and takes hours to reload everything. I can see from the forum questions that this has been a problem for years. There must be a better solution?

    Perhaps your child's external hard drive is not working. Is your child's external hard drive recognized by the Xbox One? Does it turn on any lights?

    Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry to hear that the issue is persistent on the External Hard Drive.

    Have you tried connecting the hard drive to a PC?

    Does the PC recognize the external hard drive?

    Does the external hard drive meet the specifications for the Xbox One?

    If the problem persists, I recommend to try a different external hard drive on the Xbox if possible. One thing we want to make sure, Are the ports on the Xbox One functioning?

    Update 1407 Broke External Drive

    Solution: Had to plug the external drive into a computer, format it, plug it back into the xbox one, let the xbox format it, and was good to go.

    Don't know why this happened and had to re-download games but it the xbox now recognizes the external drive
