  1. Xbox One External Drive issues - Possible fix

Just wanted to put this up in case my fix can help anyone else.

Purchased a couple of Seagate 3.5 inch 7200 RPM 4 TB drives, one for PC one for Xbox One.

Put the one for the xbox in a Sabrent DC-EFLT enclosure, supposedly USB 3.0, etc.

Had the issue where the drive would become available, then disconnect, then come back every few seconds, with the "External Drive is Ready" Popping up constantly.

I tried the other physical drive, tried a new USB 3.0 cable, tried all 3 ports on the xbox. Even tried several formats (on PC) then reformatting to Xbox.

Finally I purchased an Insignia HDD enclosure from Bestbuy and installed the HDD there. SO FAR it seems to be working.

So there was something with the enclosure itself causing issues. I also was told that the drive needs to be 7200 RPM (standard on 3.5, not on 2.5 drives) and the enclosure should have external power so the drive spins correctly. Not sure if this will help
anyone else but wanted to post it because it was a frustrating time getting this to work.

    Cheers!

    :)

  2. Possible External Hard Drive Issues

    Hello Bos Holland,

I'm sorry someone hasn't got back to sooner. But, if you have already tried the steps outlined in "Troubleshoot external storage detection
    on Xbox One
" and the problem continues, then may I suggest doing a "How to reset your console to factory defaults on Xbox One" . You will have
the option to keep your games and apps, but it will take sometime to complete. If you can, please let us if this helped.

    Possible External Hard Drive Issues

I recently purchased an external hard drive and noticed there were some connection issues. For instance, on Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2, my Xbox One would not connect with the EA servers or it would disconnect mid game (if I could get on). It would
also have issues logging in to Xbox Live. I ended up buying another Hard Drive. After much research, I went with the WD My Book 3TB hard drive. Everything went well at first, but now I am having the same problems. If I disconnect the external HD, it plays
    fine.

Any ideas as to what is going on or how I can fix it?

Civilization 6 crashing on Xbox series S

There is a possibility that there is either a connection issue with your external hard drive or somehow the external drive is corrupted. One possible solution is to uninstall the game and then reinstall the game. Try installing the game on only the internal Xbox hard drive to see if that fixes the problem. Also, try launching other games on your external hard drive to see if how those games are functioning normally.

are the games installed on an external drive or the internal one, if on an external then move to internal and try again, if on internal then move to external and try again, to see if its a drive issue, if thats possible that is.

    Hi there,

Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry to hear that the issue is persistent on the External Hard Drive.

Have you tried connecting the hard drive to a PC?

Does the PC recognize the external hard drive?

Does the external hard drive meet the specifications for the Xbox One?

If the problem persists, I recommend to try a different external hard drive on the Xbox if possible. One thing we want to make sure, Are the ports on the Xbox One functioning?

    Let us know.
