XBox One Ext. Hard Drive won't read since update

Hello,

Last night my Samsung D3 Station 2 TB external hard drive was working perfectly fine. I turned off my console, to which it is set to automatically download updates when it is powered down. I verified this as well, my console info shows the latest OS version.
I came home from work and went to boot it up, it does not read at all now. I followed this troubleshooting guide...

No luck with any of the various options on there. The light on the drive comes on and even flashes when it first boots up, but it stays a solid light as if the console is not reading it at all. I also tried plugging it into my laptop, but I am unsure if
it would read it since it has been formatted by the Xbox one, either way it did not read it either. All of my games are downloaded to it, which would make for a very inconvenient situation because I would have to reinstall and re-download all of my games,
needless to say, is a lot. So I am hoping that someone might have some added ideas to how to remedy this issue without factory resetting the drive or the console, etc.

If I have left anything out or if you need some more information please ask. Also, I have not contacted Samsung yet, as I am hoping it is solvable through this means.

i just got an ext hd for xbox one. if I have a game on my int hd that gets a big update will the update dl to my ext hd? or will I have to clear space on my internal hard drive for it.

Unplug your HDD from the console press console button for 8 seconds or till it turns off, power back up plug HDD back in, if that fails try a new usb3 cable.

 

I am having the same problem. My external hd worked before the update. Now it can be read at all.

 

Alright, I tried that and with a different usb 3.0 cable, to which it did not work. Also, I plugged my usb charge cable into all three usb drives, it works in all of them. My turtle beach headset also still works. I just plugged in a different usb 3.0 drive
to the system (not formatted by the one) and it was recognized in all three usb ports with both usb cables...starting to really look like its the ext hdd...

 

@BroylesizB34ST, I am sorry to hear that. I just went ahead and reformatted my ext with windows 8 partition manager. I am now working on re-downloading everything. This is extremely frustrating but maybe, if you have more patience than me, they will come
out with a fix for it or something. I know that my xbox was set to instant on mode, with the option checked to turn off my hdd when my console is off, my thought is, maybe because my hdd was off during the update, it somehow effected it being read?

 

I am unfortunately having the same issue. Was playing all my games fines off my external, took a break and downloaded the new update and then nothing. JBett25 or anyone else have you found any other ways around this besides reformatting the hard drive and
downloading everything again? Thanks
