Xbox One - Error when attempting to register

I hope someone can help with thoughts on this!!!!

I have tried since yesterday to register my new Xbox One and I keep getting an error message saying "We're sorry. Something went wrong on our side, and we are working on it. Please come back in a while." Well I then contacted support and after several more
hours of dealing with this was told that they couldn't register it on their end either and that they had to escalate the issue to their Hardware Specialists.... WTH!

Has anyone ever dealt with this issue before? And if so, should I be concerned that someone else is trying to use my serial number.... I mean with Microsoft putting the sticker on the outside of the box it really wouldn't be that hard I guess. But seriously!!!!
Now I am told that I should be contacted in the next 24-72 hours by the Hardware people so I am stuck in limbo for even longer when support already told me after trouble shooting that the disc drive is bad and needs to be replaced!!!!! I really just want to
play by system and really am tired of dealing with all the hoops right now.

Keep getting "Registration Didn't Work" Error Box

I'm attempting to register our new Xbox One S. I signed into my Microsoft account, entered all the requested info in the registration boxes and pressed "register". An error box keeps appearing which says "Registration didn't work. We couldn't register
this device right now. Try again in a few minutes". This occurred repeatedly over a half hour period. Any help is appreciated before I try and get directly in touch with Microsoft to register it over the phone or some such thing.

 

Problem registering a device..

I am getting the EXACT same error when trying to register through xbox.com on my computer. The old xbox is still registered and showing up on the account, but when I attempt to register the new one; I get the aforementioned error.

 

Sorry to hear it. Was the console used/refurbished when you purchased it? If so, that could be the reason you are experiencing this issue.

If it wasn't then you should either wait to hear back from phone support or return the console to the point of purchase in exchange for another one which you can, hopefully, register.

 

Hey there. i had the same problem but was able to register the device eventually through Microsoft.com and not through the Xbox.com site

But i got the same problem when applying for warranty for my new controller which was faulty out of the box. At the 2nd last step it said "We're sorry. Something went wrong on our side, and we are working on it" and i ended up here. its 3:00 am and am effing
tired. Lets see what happens.
