Xbox One error code: 0x800701f8

Barry I have been having the same issues with twitter account. They have no idea what is going on. I explicitly asked if there was a server issue and the answer was "I'm not sure what you are referring to" Then asked for network picture. I have been tweeting
at them for days before, detailing every troubleshoot I have been through multiple times. I always try to be understanding and patient but none of my purchased content can be downloaded and installing a disc corrupts because it wants an online update. I am
reaching my breaking point!

 

I'm still experiencing this frustrating issue.

I bought my Xbox One last Friday and have been completely unable to install AC Unity (included in my bundle) or update Halo the Masterchief collection. Originally I thought this was a networking issue, but after setting up Xbox Live port forwarding, I'm
still hit with 0x800701f8.

The error occurs at about 1-2% of the download (so is almost immediate) and nothing I do seems to resolve the issue. I followed the steps found

support.xbox.com/.../game-installation-process-stops but still no success.

Is this confirmed as an issue with Australian servers? any ETA on a resolution?

 

Niz, bloke I spoke to on the phone at Xboxsupport on Sat assured me it was an Au server issue that had previously been experienced on U.S Servers a month or so prior. I'm gonna ring them again today for an update and quote my ref number which they seem to
have no trouble locating while the troll on Twitter @XboxSupport1 is clueless about.

 

Thanks Barry. It's massively frustrating to have this as my first experience with the Xbox One when I've had next to no issues with my PS4 online. I think I'll go pester them on twitter now!

 

Just spoke to them again, bejeeeeeezuz they are truly clueless, no communication between themselves so how can we expect any communication from them. Seems like on Sat I got the one competent rep in the whole organisation

Turns out the code they gave me to quote back at them is just a code to verify I'm me and has no relation as a reference to the issue, which is why Twitter troll xboxsupport1 is doubly clueless.

Anyway, I have a new code specific to the issue and anyone else who calls them make sure you get a code starting with "1" as that's an issue reference code.

So... update.

No closer to a solution though they have "teams working on it" (take that as you will). It's not only an Au server problem but also in NZ (which I think work off Au servers don't they) and other countries.

I implored them to post something on XBOX LIVE status as well as having the decency to come here and post something because as I explained to them what p.sses people off more so than the issue itself is absolutely NIL communication from XBOX anywhere on
a KNOWN issue that's been going on for a week now. She said they would, let's see if they're good at their word.

As for us the only comfort is we're not alone and the problem is not at our end and some cold comfort in knowing "they're working on it".

Do take the time if you're cranky enough to get a call back from Xboxsupport go to
support.xbox.com/.../contact-us (go through the steps until you get to "request callback") tell them the problem and flood the suckers until they finally put something out there on their
site to give them some peace.

I've tweeted Phil Spencer and XBox support directly, but I thought I'd add my name here to lend weight to this issue too.

4 days now of having a console that's little better than DOA. Have contacted support twice and run through all troubleshooting with them with no outcome or ETA.

I've reset the console to factory defaults twice with no luck.

I've reset our internet connection with no luck.

I've even tried swapping out another router - no luck.

And we're on NBN fibre to the home 100/50 Mbps.

 

First time experiencing this was on the afternoon of 30/11/2014 when my brother in-law wanted to play Halo: MC. Went to open the game and found it required a 523mb update. Agreed to install the update and went to watch some Youtube while it installed. 30
minutes later I went to check on the progress of the update and found it had stopped with this error message.

I tried the following troubleshooting;

• Cleared Local Saved Game Cache
• Rebooted ADSL Router
• Uninstalled/Reinstalled the game (massive failure; it's now stuck at 1% installed and displaying the error message again)
  
• Uninstalled removed External Hard Drive, and then reinstalled the game (now error shows at 0% installed)
  
• Moved all my installed games to an External Drive and Factory Reset the Xbox One console
  

After that I gave up. Nothing was successful. Weekend ruined.

Now I have at least 3 games unplayable because of updates which are failing to install with the same error message displaying for each one, and the list is only going to grow.

Yet the most aggravating thing is that they display a completely useless error message with a completely non-existent error code. Come on Microsoft. You can do better than this!

 

Same issue for me. I am also in Australia. Took me 3 days to get the AC: Unity update to 100%. Halo and CoD updates had same problem. Sometimes a few % would download and then stop again. Tried getting the free Worms game last night - same issue. Managed
to get that to around 50% so far by continually selecting 'try again'.

 

Thankyou for finally responding. I really hope this can be addressed quickly as the last 5 days have driven me crazy. Not playing games won't kill me but the time wasted chasing my own tail trying to fix this has been extremely frustrating.

 

I'm with you JC, the thing that added insult to injury was the lack of response from XBOX.

And you're right too TallO, this error code has existed for near 6 months so why hasn't it been added to the error code page? This is another task for you XBOXsupport - people go to that page first as directed to do so by their XBOX and there's nothing?

Would help if you updated to include this one now.

 

Yeah. I've found that if I completely shut down the console, yank the power cord and leave it for a minute then restart it then I might be able to squeeze out another 1-2% download.

Obviously I soon gave up on that idea. Ain't nobody got time fo that.

I just purchased an Xbox One on Sunday (30th November) and have had this issue since day one.

I've tried everything suggested in this thread but am still having issues also. Very frustrating that this issue started ocurring around the time I purchased the console since I now have essentially a very expensive brick.

 

Same issue. I noticed while I was playing BF4 that the download was relatively stable. Most of the time my Titanfall download would go from queued to downloading then to Installation Stopped! within a minute or two and I might get 2 minutes worth of downloads
once in 5 attempts. Tedious.

I found that when I loaded Peggle2, I could download for about an hour uninterrupted then I had to restart the download again but quitting Peggle2, restarting it then kicking off the download again. Managed to get Titanfall installed in under a day with
only minimal restarts (as opposed to literally hundreds to squeeze out a couple of hundred MB).
